The Special Education/ESS Teaching Assistant will:

  • Serve students with disabilities in the general education and special education resource classrooms at the academy: help with assignments, manage behavior, etc.
  • Support students' emotional, behavioral, and academic needs in all instructional settings under the direction of and in collaboration with the certified Special Education teachers and General Education teachers.
  • Additional duties may be included, depending on the experience and expertise of the candidate and the specific academy needs.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree preferred
  • Knowledge of K-7th grade subject areas (math, reading, science, social studies)

Experience:

  • Experience working with K-7th grade students
  • A documented history of working well with children in K-7th grade in a 1:1 or small group setting
  • A documented history of working well with students with disabilities
  • Work experience as a teacher, teaching assistant, or aide in a school serving K-12th grade students

Special Knowledge/Skills:

  • Ability to work with children with disabilities
  • Ability to help students access our rigorous curriculum
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of general office equipment

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $17.00 - $20.00 per hour
