Special Education Teacher Job Description

We are seeking a qualified and passionate special education teacher to join our team.
As a special education teacher, you will be responsible for creating and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with a range of disabilities, including but not limited to autism, learning disabilities, and emotional and behavioral disorders.
You will work closely with parents, school administrators, and other educators to ensure that each student receives the support and education they need to succeed. This is part- or full-time work from home position with monthly in person meetings at the main office in American Fork. Responsibilities for Special Education Teacher
● Work with Athenian students and their families
● Coordinate/communicate with general education teachers, testing administrators, paras, parents, etc. in relation to activities related to educational, behavioral, related services, intervention, assessment, and transition for a particular group

● Manage the process of creating and implementing IEP and Eligibility documents with all related parts

● Virtually schedule and hold meetings to present students’ levels of performance, transition plans, goals, accommodations, modifications, and services with input from the students’ general education teachers, and parents

● Effectively maintain the Special Education database and communicate any changes to the Special Education team

● Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents as required

● Create lessons plans to be implemented by paras

Qualifications for Special Education Teacher

● Bachelor’s degree in Special Education, or related discipline
● Utah State Special Education License
● Student- and family-focused approach
● Work from home with monthly in person meetings
● Willingness to travel for school based event and state testing (may require occasional overnight travel)
● Comfortable with technology such as: Zoom, Nearpod, Google Drive, etc.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $50,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year

Experience:

• Teaching: 1 year (Preferred)
• Special education: 1 year (Preferred)

License/Certification:

• Teaching Certification (Preferred)
• Special Education Certification (Preferred)
