Job brief:
We are seeking a seasoned Sous Chef to serve as second-in-command in our kitchen, adhering to kitchen specifications and guidelines. The successful candidate will utilize their culinary expertise and management skills to contribute significantly to customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities:
Collaborate in the creation and design of food and drink menus
- Produce visually appealing and flavorful dishes
- Ensure timely kitchen operations that meet our quality standards
- Fill in for the Executive Chef in planning and directing food preparation when necessary
- Resourcefully resolve issues and take control of challenging situations
- Manage and train kitchen staff, establish work schedules, and evaluate staff performance
- Order supplies to maintain appropriate inventory levels
- Adhere to and enforce sanitation regulations and safety standards
- Maintain a positive and professional demeanor with coworkers and customers
- Communicate with the Head Chef regarding timing and progress of dishes during service
- Assume responsibility for kitchen operations in the absence of the Head Chef
- Assist with training, induction, and development of the kitchen brigade as required
- Minimize wastage and maintain food costs
- Uphold the highest standards in food preparation and presentation
- Keep the Head Chef informed of any problems within the kitchen, including staff, Health & Safety, equipment, and other kitchen organization-related issues
- Assist in managing various sections within the Kitchen
- Foster positive relationships between the Restaurant and the Kitchen
- Focus on guest care and service to enhance guest experience
- Stay current with menu offerings and adapt to customer demands and company policies
- Ensure the use of correct ingredients as specified by the Head Chef to maintain quality
- Assist the Head Chef in achieving a concise repertoire of dishes
- Continuously develop and maintain the finest selection of dishes in line with the Company's standards
- Take direct responsibility for all dishes served in your section
Qualifications:
- Prior experience as a sous chef or chef
- Proficient in using kitchen equipment, processes, and adhering to health and safety guidelines
- Capable of effectively delegating tasks and providing assistance as needed
- Adaptable to high-traffic and fluctuating kitchen volume
- Be fully aware of the Hotel's Fire Safety Procedures and Health & Safety regulations, ensuring all appliances, fixtures, and fittings are safe and functional, reporting any faults to the Health Spa Manager or Health Spa Supervisor.
