Duties and Responsibilities:

  • The ability to plan and deliver training in accordance with the target standards by adhering to the following requirements:
o Training environment and site setting
o Correct use of PPE
o Safety during practical exercises
o Instructor-to-course participant ratio, and contact time for each course participant for all learning objectives and elements
o Covering all learning objects at the correct taxonomy level

  • The ability to train course participants according to different learning styles during theoretical, practical, and group work sessions

  • The ability to quickly assess individual course participant knowledge, skill, and abilities by applying the GWO taxonomy levels and terminology stated in the standard

  • The ability to give constructive feedback and individual coaching towards achieving learning objectives

  • Instructor must hold and comply with national, regional and local legislation, applicable standards and regulations

  • Knowledge of the wind energy industry and key safety aspects especially as relevant for the certification

  • Familiarity of the working conditions and layout of a wind turbine, especially as relevant for the parts covered within the certification

  • Provide classroom instruction in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act, College harassment policies, and/or other legal requirements

  • Maintain professional relationships with students, colleagues, and the community

  • Teach courses at a variety of times such as mornings, evenings, or weekends

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Education: An Associate’s degree or higher in electronics technology, electronics engineering, solar photovoltaic installation and maintenance technology, solar energy technology, renewal energy technology, or electrical technology. Or an electrician license with five or more years of experience installing and maintaining photovoltaic systems.


Preferred Education: A Bachelor’s degree in electronics technology, electronics engineering, photovoltaic installation and maintenance technology, solar energy technology, renewal energy technology, or electrical technology. Three or more years of experience teaching installation and maintenance of photovoltaic systems.


Passing pre-employment criminal background screen is required as a condition of employment.

Location - Campuses are located in Houma, Schriever and Thibodaux, 50 miles southwest of New Orleans.
