About the role:
IT Eng Cloud team engineer, you will develop an Uber internal portal that manages a global hybrid cloud environment. You will have the opportunity to work with some of the latest cloud technologies while also having exposure to the on-prem VMware environment, GCP, OCI, and Docker/K8s/microservices ecosystem.
About the Team:
You will be responsible for key technical decisions related to our internally developed web application and will integrate new services into the platform. You will help ensure that the architecture and design conform to the product norms you’ll play a part in defining. You will have the opportunity to design and implement new features to support the platform's growth and execute our product vision.

What the Candidate Will Do
- Bring an extreme passion for the creativity and discipline that goes into web development with cloud technologies
- Provide insight into emerging technologies and work with the team to make architectural design decisions
- Implement new features while prioritizing user experience, modern design, high availability, and scalability
- Refactor existing code and fix bugs while prioritizing stability, security, and simplicity.
- Communicate and collaborate with other teams, both technical and non-technical
- Contribute to enhancing the team's technical and organizational culture; serve as a role model to others.
Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or related field OR 1-year full-time Software Engineering work experience, WHICH INCLUDES 1-year total technical software engineering experience in one or more of the following areas:
Programming language (Python or Javascript)
Note the 1-year total of specialized software engineering experience may have been gained through education and full-time work experience, additional training, coursework, research, or similar (OR some combination of these). The year of specialized experience is not necessarily in addition to the years of Education & full-time work experience indicated.
Technical skills:
Preferred:
Fundamental knowledge of data structure and algorithms- 4+ years of software engineering experience focused on web development
- Experience designing and developing large-scale applications using NodeJS, React, and Express platforms
- 3+ years of Python experience
- 3+ years o Javascript experience
- Good understanding of networking fundamentals (VLANs, firewalls, OSI model)
- Good understanding of security fundamentals, including the principles of least privilege
- 3+ years of advanced Oracle/OCI or GCP experience
- 3+ years working with Docker, containerization, microservices, or Kubernetes
- Comfortable with secure coding and proper handling of infrastructure security
- Strong analytical and communication skills; ability to lead long-term, cross-functional projects
- Comfortable working in a distributed/remote team environment
- OCI or GCP certification is highly preferred

For San Francisco, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is $149,000 per year - $165,500 per year.
For Sunnyvale, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is $149,000 per year - $165,500 per year.
