Software Engineer 2 - Data Team
Reporting to: Engineering Manager

Our current offerings are focused on:
  • Connectivity: Securely connecting to and verifying consumer financial data.

Our software engineers develop the next-generation technologies that change how billions of users connect, explore, and interact with their finances. Our products need to handle data on a massive scale. You’ll work alongside the best and the brightest engineering talent in the industry. We have opportunities in a wide range of areas, including development, design, search, platform, test, quality, big data, front end, and back end. As a core team participant, you’ll estimate engineering efforts, design your changes, implement and test your changes, push to live production environments, and triage production issues. You need to be dynamic, collaborative, and curious as we build new experiences, improve existing products, and develop distributed systems powering the world to be financially strong.
We need our engineers to be versatile, display leadership qualities, and be enthusiastic about tackling new problems across the entire stack as we push technology forward.
With your technical expertise, you will manage project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables. In addition, you will design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and enhance software solutions.
Job Duties
  • Use professional concepts and company objectives to resolve complex issues creatively and effectively.
  • Work on complex issues where analysis requires an in-depth evaluation of the problem, constraints, available resources, and potential solutions.
  • Exercise good judgment in selecting methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.
  • Actively participate in system architecture discussions and technical design reviews to ensure scalability, reliability, and security.
  • Write high-quality product or system development code using a CI/CD approach.
  • Thoughtfully review code developed by other engineers and provide constructive feedback to ensure ongoing learning and the use of software development best practices.
  • Triage product or system issues and debug/track/resolve them by analyzing the issue’s source and impact on hardware, network, or service operations and quality.
  • Mentor, coach, and support engineers on the team, with a strong focus on feedback and growth.
  • Contribute to existing documentation and educational content based on product/program updates and user feedback.
  • Help build and maintain a world-class technology system so we can achieve our mission of empowering the world to be financially strong.
Basic Job Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
  • 2 years experience with software development in one or more programming languages with data structures or algorithms
    • 3 years of experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products, and
    • 1 year of experience with software design and architecture.
  • Functional experience with Object Oriented Programming
  • Strong sense of writing and refactoring clean, maintainable code
  • Ability and willingness to collaborate with key stakeholders outside one’s area of expertise
Advanced Job Requirements (not required)
  • Master's Degree or Ph.D. in Computer Science or related technical fields
  • Skills in Ruby on Rails, Python and Javascript
  • Experience with public cloud environments like GCP or AWS
Work Environment

Compensation
The expected on-target earnings (OTE), which is comprised of a base salary and other forms of cash compensation, such as bonus or commissions is currently $97,000 to $116,000. This pay range is just one component of MX's total rewards package. MX takes a number of factors into account when determining individual starting pay, including job and level they are hired into, location, skillset, peer compensation.
