Job Title: Social Service Paraprofessional

Program: Strive Clubhouse

Job Title: Social Services Paraprofessional

Shift: Full-Time

Job Hours: 11:00 AM – 7:00 PM - Monday through Friday. Up to 2 weekend shifts per month.

Job Location: Covington, GA ( Newton County)

Job Description:

Social Service Paraprofessional will be responsible for conducting onsite and off-site activities. Monitor and redirecting members’ behaviors using positive behavior interventions while, youth are at clubhouse and/or attending outings. Assist with meal preparation for members. Transport members to and from the clubhouse and off-site activities. Research and facilitate group activities and monitor peer support groups. Provide academic assistance to members ie: tutoring and assistance with homework. Document all services rendered in Carelogic. Attend all required trainings and perform other duties as assigned. Must be able to lift at least 10lbs, moderate standing and must be able to engage youth in activities such as exercise, sports and other physically demanding activities.

Requirements/Competencies:

• Must be able to lift 20 pounds
• Requires long periods of sitting/standing
• Must have valid Georgia driver’s license and Motor Vehicle Record in accordance with company policy
• Candidates for selection must pass a criminal background check (including fingerprinting)
• Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and subject to random drug screens
• Any combination of training and experience, which would have enabled the applicant to acquire the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities Note: Some positions may require a valid driver's license

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in a social services related field from an accredited college or university AND One year of experience in a social services related field OR High school diploma or GED AND Three years of experience in a social services related position OR One year of experience at the lower level Social Svcs Tech 2 (SST011) or position equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications:

Familiar with best practices for working with youth who have experienced trauma. Those who are familiar with mental health disorders and different behavioral challenges that youth are faced with.

Must pass criminal records fingerprint check.
