Pomponio Ranch South is a beautifully manicured and professional farm in San Diego County, which currently consists of top-notch performance horses and highly skilled experienced grooms and is home to one of the Nation’s top riders, Karl Cook. We need someone who can stay flexible and committed to teamwork, with the priority being keeping the horses looking and feeling their best!

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist with daily horse care, including feeding, watering, grooming, and exercise.
• Tack up horses for riders.
• Setup and breakdown equipment and stabling at shows.
• Maintain a clean working environment.
• Perform Horse Care and Therapy responsibilities as instructed by Managers and prescribed by the Vet (e.g., massaging, icing, wrapping horses, stretching some horses using therapeutic machines).
• Performing barn and show duties as directed by Managers.
• Blanket horses (night checks) as necessary.
• Act as backup contact for horse care and emergencies.
• Travel is required for at least 35 weeks during the year, including the potential for international travel.

Qualifications/Requirements:

• MUST Relocate to CA
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in equine care, grooming and handling.
• Strong communication skills and commitment to teamwork.
• Knowledge of safe work practices around horses and other livestock.
• Valid Driver’s License.
• Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision, self-motivated and self-starter.
• Physical ability to work outdoors on uneven, slippery terrain in varying weather conditions with dust and allergens, and ability to twist, bend, kneel, climb, and use hand tools as necessary.
• Ability to lift 80-100 lbs.
• Ability to work in a changing, fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
• Must have proof of authorization to work in the United States and a clear background check.
