Position Details:

Summary of Duties:
This position will split its time between Northwest Public Broadcasting (NWPB) and the Murrow College of Communication (MCC). The Senior Web Designer is responsible for assisting the development and execution of marketing and communications plans for NWPB and the Murrow College through the development and oversight of web pages, mobile applications, and related channels. The senior web designer will maintain the website of each department, create well-designed webpages for initiatives or campaigns, and design landing page or feature story page templates that adhere to brand standards of each entity. The position will create prototypes or wireframes in collaboration with creative teams for new projects or initiatives. They will have familiarity with UI/UX and visual design principles to create web content that scales across various platforms. This position will collaborate with graphic designers, writers, digital producers, and reporters on either team under the direction of the NWPB and Murrow marketing directors.

Required Qualifications:

A Bachelor's degree in information science or related field and three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in web site design, development and maintenance. Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.
  • Five (5) years of professional experience in web design and/or development.
  • Demonstrated technical experience in front-end web design and understanding of website design principles and web accessibility standards.
  • Demonstrated understanding of branding.
  • Demonstrated experience applying high standards of creative web design techniques to strategically communicate different messages.
  • Demonstrated experience conceptualizing, producing, and executing web design work for campaigns in collaboration with other creatives.
  • Familiarity with designing for search engine optimization (SEO).
  • Experience working with marketing professionals, writers, editors, graphic designers, photographers, and videographers.
  • Proficient in using Adobe creative cloud suite.
  • Proficient in HTML and CSS knowledge.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills,
  • Ability to quickly learn and apply changing graphic design and publishing technologies.
  • Demonstrated ability to excel in a collaborative environment and work independently.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of motion graphics and 2d animation.
  • Experience leading and establishing brand guidelines.
  • Experience with Public Media organizations.

Monthly Salary:

$4,508.70 to $6,199.47 | Commensurate with qualifications and experience

Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate's current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position. Successful candidates typically begin up to mid-point of the salary range. This is a temporary position expected to end one year after hire date. Renewal is dependent on the need for extension and/or if funding is secured to extend employment.

Northwest Public Broadcasting at WSU has been reliably funded for many years, and we expect funding to continue to support this position.
