Job Description
We are now looking for an enthusiastic full-time civil/traffic engineer to help expand our civil engineering practice and to support various traffic engineering, operations analysis, and transportation design projects (traffic signals, signage and pavement markings, etc.). We are looking for an experienced engineer to quickly step into a project management role and support training and growth of younger staff.
Requirements:
· Bachelor's Degree in a relevant program (i.e., civil engineering) and 5+ years of relevant experience
· Passion for transportation planning, traffic operations, and transportation design
· Preferably Registered as a PE in the Commonwealth of VA and /or Maryland.
Responsibilities:
- Manage traffic engineering, and/or safety projects and contracts
- Manage projects involving the design of traffic control devices (signs, markings, signals) and ITS.
- Oversee quality and contribute to complex technical decisions on a range of multi-modal transportation engineering assignments
- Perform advanced and specialized drafting (2D and 3D) to support design activities to develop MOT phases and stages
- Collaborate to Implement traffic management strategies.
- Assists with proposal preparation and participates in business development efforts
- Apply deep understanding of traffic signal design, operations, and/or systems
- Complete traffic safety and operational improvement studies for localized intersections and corridors
- Provide analyses of traffic safety issues and crash reduction measures
- Manage projects involving simulation and signal optimization plans to maximize transportation system throughput (using Synchro, Sidra, Vissim or related software)
- Complete access management reports
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering required. M.S. in Transportation Engineering a plus;
- Professional Engineer's license or ability to obtain within 12 months;
- 4-10 years of experience in traffic engineering/ roadway engineering
· Experience performing traffic analyses and/or traffic engineering design
- Experience in preparing final design plans associated with traffic signals, signing and striping layout, and temporary traffic control/detour/staging plans;
- Working knowledge of the MUTCD, HCM, ADA regulations a plus;
- Experience with HCS, Synchro/Simtraffic, Sydra, Vissim, AutoTURN, MicroStation, OpenRoads, GuidSIGN/ SignCAD and related software;
Compensation: Salary is dependent on experience level; health, dental, and vision insurance; retirement account (4% match; no vesting period); paid time off; holidays; and short-term and long-term disability insurance.
