What you’ll do?
We’re looking for a Sr. Systems Engineer to join us at RailComm. Day to day you will act as the subject matter technical expert on projects, interfacing between customers, external partners, and the RailComm team, to develop and ensure fulfilment of technical requirements for projects at an overall systems level.

Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Develop well-written system and subsystem requirements, highlighting gaps between customer requirements and standard RailComm products
Create high-level system architecture and design and select major components
Ensure that the designed system will meet functional, operational, maintenance, logistics, and performance requirements
Coordinate designs with other departments/teams to assure effective interfaces
Provides updates of the design criteria, standard specifications, standard drawings, and other standards for RailComm products
Plan and implement the System Test Plan including writing detailed system test plans and procedures against functional, operational and performance requirements
Influence Technical Specifications prior to tender
Interface with customer technical personnel with regards to design decisions, rationales, and technical issues
Act as the customer advocate to ensure that the correct system is built and that details are as customer friendly as possible
Organize complex workloads, establish, and adjust priorities, follow existing RailComm Project Delivery Framework (RC-PDF), and accomplishes objectives within defined scopes, budgets, and schedules
Adhere to quality, budget, and schedules for all assigned projects
Possess senior level system engineering working knowledge and experience and able to mentor other technical team members
Support the Sales team by participating in the RailComm project estimating process
Attends and participates in professional working groups and meetings as assigned
Maintains awareness of new trends and developments in rail related fields and incorporates new developments as appropriate
Provides technical analysis and review in support of RailComm’s projects.
Establishes and manages effective internal and external communication and coordination with RailComm teams, customers, consultants, and contractors as necessary
Support engineering and production staff
Performs other duties of similar nature and level as assigned
Some travel (domestic and international) to support site surveys and system installation

Technical degree required
Previous experience in a similar role
Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical schematics
Able to travel, both domestic & international, up to 25% of the time
Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment in a leadership role, with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Able to make sound decisions and remain focused in high pressure situations
Outstanding oral and written communication skills with the ability to communicate technical issues to individuals and audiences with varying degrees of technical aptitude
Able to interact positively and effectively with customers, partners, and suppliers
Excellent problem solving and analytical skills and the ability to work well in a team-oriented environment
Exceptional organizational and thorough documentation skills
Wide experience and meaningful domain knowledge coupled with an interest in continuous learning
