Currently we are looking for a Senior Structural Engineer to join our firm in one of our Michigan or Indiana offices who best supports our clients, co-workers, and core principles – “understand our customers and satisfy their needs, do what we say we are going to do and have fun.”

Responsibilities

• Manage structural design projects, including bridges, retaining walls, concrete tanks, buildings, and miscellaneous structures
• Train, direct and mentor junior level engineers
• Assist in business development and proposal efforts
• Develop the scope of engineering work, schedules, and budgets for the assigned project elements
• Monitor progress to meet requirements
• Identify and document changes in scope
• Perform bridge and other structural analysis and design computations
• Develop and innovate non-standard details for unique structures
• Prepare contract bid documents including final plans, specifications, and cost estimates
• Visit project sites to perform bridge inspections, and verify existing conditions during design and provide construction support engineering
• Coordinate with utilization of interdisciplinary technical personnel
• Prepare technical reports and documentation of activity for client and project management

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, structural engineering emphasis preferred
• Minimum 5 years of experience in the structural/bridge design field.
• MI or IN PE license required.
• Experience with Michigan & Indiana Department of Transportation Local Agency projects preferred
• Experience serving public agency / municipal clients preferred
• Knowledge of applicable codes and standards
• Familiar with structural design software
• Design experience in timber, concrete, steel and masonry structural building systems preferred
• Design experience in water and wastewater treatment structures preferred
