JJ Powell, Inc., is a family owned and operated business that is currently seeking a motivated individual to join our Hometown Originals team as a Senior Staff Accountant providing assistance to the Controller in overseeing the accounting department to insure that all responsibilities within the department are completed accurately and as scheduled by performing the following duties, personally or through subordinate supervisors.

The following are essential functions of the job:

• Perform timely balance sheet reconciliations on a monthly basis.
• Perform month, and year end close on a timely basis.
• Managing all aspects of the general ledger
• Analyzing and reporting income and expense variances
• Preparing and consolidating financial statements
• Assist in preparation for the annual audit
• Work closely with the business units to prepare monthly budgets, quarterly reforecasts, and annual budgets.
• Responsible for weekly sales meeting data.
• Participation in asset/liability management.
• Establishing and maintaining internal controls
• Various duties related to taxes, general ledger and accounting sub-systems.

Education

• Bachelors degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in accounting, preferred
• 2 or more years experience, preferred
• Equivalent combination of education and experience that demonstrates the ability to do the job, will be considered
