Platform Engineering is a fun group which enjoys solving complex problems with radical solutions. We are the backend technology team involved in building and scaling our B2B and B2C products. We built robust, scalable, and stable platform product which processes more than 3 billion coupons per year and close to 100 million API calls per day. Our technology stack comprises of Java, Cassandra, MariaDB, Kafka, Kubernetes, Spring, Apache Spark, Elastic Search, Redis, Python using Google Cloud Platform. The team’s work is deployed across on premise datacenters and Google Cl oud Platform, serving millions of requests per day. Our software has huge impact on the lives of users by providing them access to promotions, thus helping them save money.
As a member of Quotient Technology Inc, Platform Engineering team, you will help build highly scalable, resilient, and globally deployable REST API services and server-side processes. These systems are critical backbone of Quotient’s Promotions business and process millions of transactions every day. You will be joining a team with acute focus on performance, quality and operating at extreme scale The ideal software engineering candidate will have strong analytical skills, effective communication skills, be independent, self-motivated to learn, able to work efficiently in a dynamic and demanding environment.
What you'll do:
- Design and develop highly scalable, 24/7 high volume promotions platform.
- Work independently completing small to large sized projects while managing competing priorities in a demanding production environment.
- Deliver on projects from end to end (documentation to production grade code to support procedures) in agile development process.
- Design and develop REST APIs for platform using Java, SpringBoot, Hibernate, MariaDB/Cassandra, Redis.
- Develop database schemas and SQL queries for MariaDB and Cassandra.
- Develop backend jobs in Java using SpringBatch framework to process data and feeds.
- Develop Kafka consumers to process events at large scale.
- Write Unit and integration tests to maintain quality of all developed code.
- Maintain existing codebase and fix issues as they arise.
- Develop cloud native solutions using GCP, Kubernetes.
- Learn new technologies and contribute to development of proof-of-concept applications.
- Work collaboratively among groups within engineering (Database Administration, and Production Ops) and outside engineering (Product Manager, Marketing Team) to drive allocated projects to completion.
What you'll bring:
- BS or MS in CS (or equivalent) and minimum of 4+ years (6+ years for Bachelors) of hands-on software design and development experience or data and mathematical analysis.
- Strong knowledge of Web Technologies, REST services using Open API specification.
- Strong knowledge of Java, Spring, SpringBoot, OOPs and DBMS (Cassandra/MariaDB/Microsoft SQL Server/Oracle).
- Strong knowledge of Kafka, Streams Processing.
- Strong knowledge of Kubernetes.
- Strong knowledge of caching (Redis/Memcached/Memstore).
- Experience with serverless technology, reactive programming is a plus.
- Experience with modern cloud-based CI/CD solutions.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Strong knowledge of algorithms.
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
- Excellent team player.
- Passionate about programming.
- Ability to maintain good technical documentation.
- Strong troubleshooting skills (client and server side).
- Keen ability to understand end user experience and business needs.
In Colorado, California, Washington, and New York City, the annual base salary range for this role is $125k-$135k. The hired applicant will be eligible for an annual bonus and will receive an equity grant in the form of either a direct grant of stock that will be specified in the employment agreement or an option to purchase stock in the future for a specified price.
