The Opportunity:
Our Diagnostics business currently has an opportunity for a Senior Software Engineer, .NET C#, WPF.
This Senior Software Engineer can be based in our Abbott Park/ Lake Bluff, IL or Irving, TX office.
The primary function of this position is to develop Windows desktop software for an automated IVD system for blood and plasma screening.
What You’ll Work On:
You will participate in a team-oriented environment to define and develop user interface, business rules, and data management applications. Software development responsibilities include executing software development life cycle activities from software requirements, design and implementation through design verification.
- Leads and is accountable for the engineering design and implementation for one or more software features in the System.
- Working independently under limited supervision, performs highly complex and specialized level software project activities in such areas as Requirements, Design, Development, Documentation, Test, Debug, and/or related areas.
- Participates in and supports the implementation, development, enhancements, and modifications to software source code, scripts, and procedures.
- Defines code-level application programming interfaces and strategies for unit testing, integration testing and performance testing for one or more sub-systems, features.
- Serves as the technical subject matter expert for one or more features.
- Serve
- Reviews and develops testing strategy and test protocols for one or more features.
- Provides effort estimates for software functionality. Plans, conducts, and technically directs projects or sub-systems of significant projects.
- Analyzes user needs, product requirements, software requirements and provides input to System Engineer and other stakeholders. Assesses areas impacted by new feature requests and determines approach to accommodate new capabilities.
- Investigate on-market issues, determine appropriate corrections, and implement those corrections underneath our software engineering process.
- Debugs, troubleshoots, and isolates software problems as well as offers strategic solutions, analysis, and advice regarding identified issues for future development.
- Contributes to and supports writing, updating, developing and maintaining Hazard/Risk analysis specifications
- Complies with U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations, other regulatory requirements, Company policies, operating procedures, processes, and task assignments. Maintains positive and cooperative communications and
collaboration with all levels of employees, customers, contractors, and vendors.
Required Qualifications
Education:
- B.S. in Computer Science or similar engineering discipline including Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Biomedical Engineering is required.
Experience:
- 4+ yrs. of relevant experience with Master’s Degree or 6+ yrs. relevant experience with Bachelor’s degree. Experience should be related to software design and coding.
- Excellent knowledge of software engineering principles.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential.
Preferred / Ideal Qualifications:
- Extensive experience in developing Windows Desktop applications utilizing .NET framework, C#, WCF, WPF/XAML and SQL Server.
- Strong Objected Oriented Analysis and Design skills.
- Advanced experience in designing and developing complex software systems.
- Ability to develop & design at the sub-system and component-level.
- Advanced level of understanding of test-driven methodologies.
- Advanced level understanding of design patterns.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize responsibilities.
- Ability to provide guidance to junior team members.
- Demonstrated success in technical proficiency, creativity, and independent thought.
- Demonstrated ability to set and meet tight deadlines and function well under pressure.
