Advocates for Human Potential, Inc. (AHP) is seeking a California-certified Paralegal with commercial real estate transactions and/or development experience in the state of California. This Paralegal / Real Estate Attorney position will serve as support to the in-house Real Estate Attorney and must have the savvy to assist in crafting complex contracts in a wide variety of commercial real estate areas including purchase and sale, loan, funding, construction, AIA contracts, subcontractor, acquisition, lease, general business agreements and statements of work. Additional issues you may work on include land use, due diligence, and the substantive review, revision, drafting, and explanation of real estate documents.

As AHP’s Paralegal / Real Estate Attorney supporting and reporting to the in-house Real Estate Attorney, you will work with internal stakeholders and partner with subject matter experts in our Center for Training, Technical Assistance, and Consulting.

AHP influences change in health and business systems to support vulnerable populations—from creating policy to ground-level, hands-on work. AHP helps organizations and individuals reach their full potential through professional consulting; research, evaluation, and data analytics; technical assistance and training; and virtual solutions, publications, and events.

Responsibilities:

  • Review, real estate contracts, and other relevant documents.
  • Work hand-in-hand with the Contracts staff to manage version control of all assigned contracts.
  • Partner with business teams at all levels and across multiple functions to effectively identify and remedy potential legal and process issues.
  • Assist in the identification and assessment of legal and business risks, and escalate issues as needed.
  • Assure real estate contracts follow proscribed requirements, and minimize or eliminate risk factors related to the transaction resulting in a positive long-term relationship with AHP’s clients.
  • Serve as an internal resource for real estate questions from within the company.
  • Help develop, expand, and organize a library of agreement templates and outstanding agreements.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • California certified Paralegal / California licensed Real Estate Attorney, JD degree
  • At least three years of experience as part of an in-house legal team or law firm.
  • Excellent contract review, drafting, writing, and communication skills.
  • Experience reviewing, redlining, and managing real estate contracts
  • Extremely organized, thorough, and accurate with excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and workstreams to meet deadlines.

Salary Range: $85.000 to 95,000

AHP, in an effort to be transparent with applicants about salary and in compliance with various state pay disclosure requirements, publishes the following information which is current as of the date of posting. The base salary range above represents the low and high end of the AHP salary range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and may be high or low in the range based on various factors including but not limited to location, experience, and education. The range listed is just one component of AHP’s total compensation package for employees.
