A Typical Day
The Senior Process Engineer is responsible for supporting the Company’s strategic objectives through development of the optimum, most cost-effective process technologies used to manufacture HCC’s products, both directly and indirectly. This position will provide Process Engineering subject matter expertise (SME) on all aspects of the manufacturing process; maximizing total effective equipment performance (TEEP), reducing operating costs, and maximizing sustainability through water reclamation and reuse.
Job Responsibilities
- Use end-to-end thinking to deliver process solutions company-wide. Find win:win solutions that deliver the optimal balance across company KPIs and total cost of ownership (TCO) for all parties.
- Set and manage Process Engineering standards for Manufacturing, Sanitation, Utility, and Water Reclamation processes.
- Support Manufacturing teams by providing operational guidance, critical input to Problem Solving processes, and operational best practices based on Process design.
- Design and Lead major strategic Projects and Programs using Project Management methodologies.
- Effectively collaborate with both internal and external stakeholders to obtain desired Project outcomes.
- Stay up to date on latest available technologies, industry direction, and trends to continuously improve HCC’s technology portfolio.
What You Will Need
- B.S. in Chemical, Biochemical, or Environmental Engineering, or related field plus 5 years’ manufacturing experience, or M.S. in Chemical, Biochemical, or Environmental Engineering, or related field plus 3 years’ manufacturing experience
- Ability to complete mass and energy balances
- Experience collecting analyzing production data using statistical techniques
- Ability to develop operational models of plant processes
- Experience with writing functional descriptions of physical processes
- Intermediate experience using MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint
What Will Put You Ahead
- B.S. in Chemical, Biochemical, or Environmental Engineering, or related field plus 7 years’ manufacturing experience, or M.S. in Chemical, Biochemical, or Environmental Engineering, or related field plus 5 years’ manufacturing experience
- 3+ years’ experience with process optimization in the Food and/or Dairy industry
- Experience with clean-in-place (CIP) system design and operational principles
- Knowledge of the Engineering principles, design, and operation of physio-chemical, anaerobic and aerobic wastewater treatment systems in the dairy industry
- Knowledge of integrated water reclamation/reuse within a manufacturing facility
- Project Management certifications, such as PMP or CAPM
- Certification or direct experience with formal Problem Solving methodologies
- Experience with process modeling software (GPSX, Matlab, Aspen, etc.)
- Experience with statistical analysis software (Minitab, JMP, etc.)
Physical Demands
The work is primarily performed in an office environment and the physical demands are characteristic of a mostly sedentary role. Specific details of the essential functions of the position is available in the Job Safety Analysis, made available on request.
