Description
Our growing company seeks an individual with strong engineering and organizational skills to assist in the design and installation of solar and energy development projects. The position will play a critical role in ensuring the company successfully delivers on the strong pipeline of projects within the northern New England region. The successful candidate will be able to drive the Engineering Procurement and Construction (EPC) process pipeline. Our endeavors are typically designed in house and through collaboration with our partners, financed and constructed in accordance with the requirements of the authority having jurisdiction (AHJ) or financier.
This role would be key to helping us leverage the abilities of our development and finance teams so that development efforts are correctly utilized. Specifically early involvement in the site selection process, development of plans and specifications across multiple AHJ’s, and diverse utility interconnection requirements. In terms of specifics for the role, the ideal candidate would have experience in an engineering procurement and construction (EPC) environment, with some familiarity or insight into budget limitations.
Technical
- Need full understanding of the principles and practices of the National Electric Code and the application of code requirements in the contemporary electrical distribution environment.
- Requires full comprehension of inverter based electrical utility generation to include solar, wind and battery energy storage.
- Abilities to design solar facilities as required; typical design responsibilities would include:
- Utility interconnection design including development of both low and medium voltage interconnection specifications and protection scenarios’.
- Full scope of engineering design for the following typical projects:
- Fixed tilt ground mounted solar projects 0.5-MW to 15-MW AC.
- Roof mount projects up to 0.5-MW AC.
- Ability to develop bid packages to allow for competitive outsourcing of EPC projects.
- Ability to evaluate installed equipment performance in accordance with specifications, including but not limited to data analytics to verify system performance, capacity, and optimization.
- Familiarity with electric vehicle charging systems, wind design and battery energy storage design concepts a plus.
- Additional responsibilities to include:
- Assist in establishment and refinement of NS standards and standardized practices for developing engineering and design consistency.
- Assist in developing the drawing review and release process.
- Assist in developing a quality assurance system, to include establishing metrics for engineering and construction projects.
- Become the technical lead as required for NS projects, which typically include grid connected solar power plants.
- Assist in evaluating the latest design opportunities and trends.
- Help to evaluate our engineering subcontractors for NS at a minimum.
- Ensure our standards meet our typical funder’s requirements.
- Assist in establishment and refinement of NS standards and standardized practices for developing engineering and design consistency.

- Assist in engineering across NT to provide a consistent experience and standardized approach

Qualification Requirements
- Three (3) to five (5) years of progressive responsibility in the design and development of renewable engineering projects.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (preferred).
- Associates degree in a technical discipline, or NABCEP certification is acceptable with the requisite experience.
- Licensed Professional Engineers are encouraged to apply.
Location
Norwich Solar has several office locations which include Plainfield NH, Brunswick ME, Waterbury, Windsor and White River Junction VT. The position is based out of our White River Junction headquarters. Candidates are encouraged to attend monthly company gatherings (typically within northern New England) and remote candidates are welcomed to apply.
