What’s the job?

This position will assist the Human Resources Manager with services of a highly responsible and confidential nature in the administration and delivery of a full spectrum of human resource programs and activities for the hourly and salaried employees at the Shreveport Plant. Under limited supervision, performs complex administrative duties following established procedures in the following areas: Hourly and salaried payroll, benefit plans, records maintenance, purchase orders, SAP receiving. Assist corporate Human Resources for additional support during annual open enrollment, involves frequent contact, and a working knowledge of the benefits, policies, and procedures, local, state, and federal employment laws. In an efficient manner, monitor processes and record retention to ensure integrity of systems and audits. Maintain good labor relations by equitable administration of work rules, consistency of actions and open communication with all employees.

  • Assist the Human Resources Manager on various projects and activities.
  • Coordinate all Diversity and Inclusion activities for the Shreveport Plant.
  • At plant level, administers various employee benefit programs through education and resolving problems with carrier representatives. Develops communication tools to enhance understanding of the company’s benefits. Provide benefit support to all plant/office associates and the field sales staff with issues like Life Status Changes, enrollment issues, etc.
  • Initiates and tracks job bid postings, prepares resultant bid positioning documentation in compliance with plant policies and the labor agreement, communicates impending changes with operational team.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the Company policies, procedures, and benefits.
  • Administers and maintains confidential employee records, status spreadsheets and status changes tracking new hires, terminations, transfers, promotions, ADA accommodations, etc. for generation of various reports.
  • Write or revise plant policies and procedures as directed by the Human Resources Manager.
  • Assists in preparation of reports and audits as needed.
  • Process weekly hourly payroll utilizing Kronos time keeping in compliance with pay provisions in the collective bargaining agreement.
  • Process salaried payroll – SPOE entries for overtime.
  • Enter permanent hourly job changes and new hires in PeopleSoft.
  • Ensure the accuracy of labor hour allocations in both Kronos and PS
  • Serve as backup SAP/Receiving clerk for the Warehouse.
  • Serve as the plant’s administrative resource for EHS support, office supplies, service awards, community donations and employee benevolence, annual plant flu shots, etc.
  • Track salaried vacation eligibility and administer the SGC Salaried Vacation Policy.
  • Develop and maintain Shreveport’s Employee Recognition Program to include group special events and individual employee awards tracking.
  • Internal contacts involve hourly, supervisory personnel throughout the plant, as well as their subordinates; contacts also involve Corporate Human Resources personnel.
  • Maintains and updates Plant Human Resources records integral in the day-to-day tracking of employee data such as hourly attendance, vacations, STD leaves, hours worked, etc.

Requirements

What do you bring?

  • Minimum high school diploma, Associates Degree preferred
  • Two (2) or more years of experience in the Payroll / SAP / HR environment. Human Resource Degree and /or certifications preferred, or any appropriate combination of academic and work experience.
  • Ability to perform all operations within acceptable quality and time standards.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • Active listening, responding and resolution to employee issues and concerns.
  • Effective time management and maintain integrity and confidentiality in all matters.
  • Must be proficient in the use of software such as: Kronos / UKG and Microsoft Office Suit.
  • Maintain annual PHR Certification requirements or be willing to attain certification.
