Summary
The Senior Manager, Promotions (Content) will work within the consolidated MTA Advertising & Promotions team to ideate, develop, edit, and publish different content. S/he will manage all content needed for MTA Advertising & Promotions projects and assets, including MTA Away partner promotions, the MTAaway.com website, MTA Away social handles, MTA Away eNewsletter, brand/partner events, OMNY marketing, etc. All promotional content aims to increase ridership, inform riders of new partner deals and discounts, and/or inspire riders to take mass transit to destinations throughout our system.
In addition, this role will be responsible for developing marketing content that drives brands and partners to work with the MTA for brand activations, events, filming, licensing, and much more.
The incumbent will own and manage the content calendar. The Senior Manager, Content will plan for seasonal themes and ensure that content is planned well in advance, coordinated with business development and others, drafted and reviewed in a timely fashion, and published per the content calendar while addressing spontaneous and immediate needs.
In addition, the Senior Manager will partner across the organization to deliver exciting and creative experiences and campaigns that engage and excite our riders. From contests to social events to community engagement to partner promotions, the Senior Manager will need to think outside the box, present and refine ideas and execute new and unusual projects that work to achieve our goals of revenue generation and increased ridership.
The Senior Manager will manage various writers and photographers, manage external content partners and work collaboratively with numerous other departments.
Responsibilities
Develop and lead execution of engaging, rider-focused content initiatives and promotional, rider-engagement opportunities (e.g., Subway Bingo, brand promo partnership).
Oversee and deliver a year-round content calendar that reflects all platforms (web, social, newsletter) coordinated with promotional deals, offers, and events.
Partner across teams and organizations to build out projects and bring them to fruition; ensure input is gathered from colleagues and incorporated
Devise and execute MTA Away's social strategy
Create compelling content that attracts users and effectively helps riders understand the benefits of the MTA and MTA Away
Create a content metrics dashboard, measure results, and contribute to monthly reporting on how riders are engaging with content across platforms; use results to inform future content
Analyze past content initiatives to understand effectiveness and report on what has worked and what can be improved upon; develop best practices
Influence and contribute to developing a promotional content strategy for MTA-owned media.
Develop and manage external content contributing partners
Develop a partner content style guide and ensure content adheres to standards
Write and edit content from internal and external partners for screens, web pages, social posts, and posters.
Manage and grow a writer/editor who will create and publish content. Work within content management systems to post content to websites.
Manage freelance writers and photographers to deliver high-quality content
Develop regular communication channels with partners throughout the organization, including agencies and other departments.
Identify, analyze, and implement new creative marketing opportunities (e.g., contests and events).
Suggest and implement process improvements and other ways to improve efficiency.
Work closely with the MTA communications and press team to exchange ideas and cross-promotion opportunities to publicize content initiatives and rider benefits.
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Journalism, or a related field.
Must have a minimum of five (5) years of writing and editing experience.
Must have a minimum of three (3) years of experience working in digital and social media.
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Exceptional writer/communicator.
Creative, proactive problem solver and team player
Ability to manage multiple projects at any given time.
Creative production and overall project management experience preferred
Other Information
As an MTA Construction & Development employee, you may be required to complete the New York State financial disclosure statement – annually if your position earns $108,638 (this figure is subject to change) per year if the position is designated as a policymaker.
