Saint-Gobain Life Sciences with material expertise in silicone, thermoplastic elastomers and fluoropolymers and processing expertise in molding, extrusion and custom fabrication helps create a better life by designing, manufacturing and distributing critical fluid management solutions across biopharmaceutical, medical, nutrition, semiconductor and consumer markets.

The Senior Manager will lead our Manufacturing Technology Innovation (MTI) team and various projects impacting Saint-Gobain Life Sciences and its business units. Will manage multiple groups at various locations and directly support the development and delivery of the MTI Innovation portfolio. Will provide advanced technical expertise and business acumen ensuring good Innovation processes to deliver on budget and on time.

Will collaborate with Manufacturing, Quality, Purchasing and Digital teams and across Marketing, Regulatory, Application Engineering, and Finance. ; External collaborations include technology providers, raw material suppliers and academic/research institutions.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Develop a high caliber MTI team that is globally located at either R&D centers or manufacturing sites.
  • Focuses on Safety and risk reduction as a first priority in every project
  • As member of LS R&D leadership team, facilitate high R&D employee engagement and growth
  • Works with operations, circle technology teams and business to build a value creating Innovation portfolio
  • Together with purchasing develops a strategic and proactive approach to raw material sourcing while ensuring fast reaction to supplier driven changes to maintain good service to customers
  • Drive technology leadership best in class process technologies/standards and enable next generation equipment with improved capability and capacity.
  • Enable a new process for process projects that improves project selection, improves project communication, and most importantly ensures on time and on budget project delivery.
  • Collaborates with Industry 4.0 teams to deliver data science based process analytics and process optimization projects
  • Will mentor, develop, hire and train employees; incumbent sets goals, objectives and periodically evaluates performance throughout the year. He/she manages administrative functions for his/her direct reports. In addition, the incumbent will also guide and mentor the BPS technology circle leaders and help guide the circles towards a strategic technology leadership approach
  • Enables documentation to meet regulatory requirements and Quality standards.
  • Demonstrates open and collaborative approach in all areas of responsibility.

Requirements


Bachelor's Degree (i.e. Engineering, Chemistry, Materials, Mechanical, or Industrial); Required

Master's Degree; Required.

10+ years of experience in a technical role within R&D, operations or technology developments; Required.

5+ years of experience in operations including process improvement, product/process implementation; Required.

3+ years of experience managing/building departmental functions/budgets, including capital expenses; Required.

R & D initiatives leading teams (i.e. Stage Gate, Materials/Technology Resourcing, Coaching & Development; Preferred

Experience with plastics processing - extrusion, injection molding; and Knowledge of Silicone, fluoropolymers and thermoplastic elastomer materials; Preferred.

Ability to travel upwards of 25% (Manufacturing locations, Suppliers, etc.); Required.
