This is what you will do:

As part of the Enabling IT team of AstraZeneca’s Alexion Rare Disease Unit (RDU), Senior Manager, Enterprise FP&A Program Lead will be responsible for the planning, execution, communications and change management of IT projects in Finance, S/4HANNA, Compliance. Those projects will include all phases of the project life cycle while incorporating the system development life cycle and Waterfall or Agile methodologies. The Program Lead is accountable for delivering projects on time, within budget, and with high quality. The Program Lead will work closely with the business teams and various IT functions (e.g., Data, Analytics & Insights, Finance Delivery, SAP Operation, Enterprise Architecture) to deliver on various business transformation initiatives. The Program Lead will also partner closely with the IT Portfolio lead to become a leader & trusted advisor for the Enabling IT team on IT standards, policies, and guidelines as it relates to RDU IT’s Strategic Portfolio Management & Operating Model approach. This position reports to the Head of Strategy & Performance, Enabling Functions IT.


You will be responsible for:

Key Areas of Responsibility will include:


  • Establishing and driving project management processes (including but not limited to scope, schedule, risk, issue, resource, and budget management. Build and maintain project plans, status reports, risk and issue logs, budget/ongoing project forecast of resources and materials and other project related artifacts.
  • Facilitating the gathering of the template requirements for S/4HANNA.
  • Liaison with FP&A Systems lead and provide leadership and take overall accountability for a successful implementation of FP&A systems.
  • Driving accurate project chartering and setup and facilitate the definition of the project scope, key results, short delivery cycles (MVP), and continuously reflecting, learning, and improving.
  • Establishing a communication and change management strategy in partnership with business and IT sponsors and effectively communicating project-related information to team members, IT management, and customers throughout the project life cycle.
  • Efficiently identifying and resolving project issues; Escalating issues that require executive and steering committee attention.
  • Managing and preparing the program status report and dashboard for Steering Committee for S/4HANNA, FP&A and Compliance portfolio.
  • Ensuring that programs/projects are conducted in compliance with Alexion standards, policies, and guidelines.
  • Performing team management, driving motivation, collaboration, and performance.
  • Overseeing and controlling any external resources contracted to the project and overseeing external resource deliverables.
  • Ensuring business inclusion throughout the management of the project schedule, project decision making, training, etc.
  • Assessing the current organization and delivery environment; Ensuring Agile is implemented and operationalized into Alexion IT’s ways of working framework.
  • Enabling and accelerating Agile adoption within project team by providing training, coaching, feedback, and advice on the Agile methodology and Scrum framework in alignment with SDLC.
  • The duties of this role are generally conducted in an office environment. As is typical of an office-based role, employees must be able, with or without an accommodation to use a computer; engage in communications via phone, video, and electronic messaging; engage in problem solving and non-linear thought, analysis, and dialogue; collaborate with others; maintain general availability during standard business hours.

You will need to have:

  • 6-8 years of IT business systems experience with a minimum of 4-6 years’ experience in Business Transformation program and/or Project management area.
  • Strong understanding and appreciation of business process and pain points in Finance, Compliance and ERP within Pharma/Biotech setting.
  • Previous experience in managing ERP and Finance projects in large scale and matrixed organizations.
  • Experience in executing on Agile transformation roadmaps, building portfolios, facilitating Value Stream, KPI and/or OKR workshops.
  • Demonstrated experience with Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe).
  • Strong systems skills and the ability to effectively communicate and follow-up delivery of business requirements into systems. Exceptional quantitative and analytical skills with an ability to translate sophisticated business questions into systems solutions and actions.
  • Strong operational capability, with ability to manage projects, timelines and budgets, effective customer management skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to produce high-quality, impressive deliverables that are suitable for senior executive audience.
  • Highly collaborative, strong interpersonal skills and cross-functional team experience; ability to lead and influence within a matrix.
  • Proven experience in providing change management and strategic communication advisement, with experience supporting technology implementations and complex enterprise change initiatives.
  • Experience in managing project financials (Opex, Capex).
  • Proficiency in MS Office products such as Project Management software, PowerPoint, Excel and Smartsheet.

We would prefer for you to have:

  • A Bachelor's degree in IT field, MBA, or equivalent level of experience preferred.
  • ERP, Planning & Forecasting system knowledge preferred.
  • Highly skilled at facilitation and information gathering.
  • Strong leadership skills, with ability to direct and engage teams to achieve strategic objectives.
  • Excellent decision-making and problem-solving skills to analyze and resolve complex escalated issues.
  • The ability to relate well to a wide variety of diverse styles, types, and classes; open to differences; effective up, down, sideways, inside, and outside; builds diverse networks; quick to find common ground; treats differences fairly and equitably; treats everyone as a preferred customer.
