Overview:
Symbria is searching for a Senior Manager of Billing and Collections to join our growing employee-owner team! This is a full-time, hyrid role. You will be required to visit the corporate office in Warrenville, IL (Chicago, IL suburb) 3-4 times per year at company expense.

The Senior Manager, Billing and Collections is responsible for oversight of the billing and collections department including managing entire team to ensure timely, efficient, accurate, and effective billing and collections efforts for Symbria and all affiliated entities. Additionally, ensure efficient use of resources while working and communicating well throughout the organization to create process improvements.

Responsibilities:
  • Build and develop a team of skilled employees including playing a major role in interviewing and hiring of team members.
  • Coach, mentor, and train team to ensure the highest probability of success.
  • Hold the team accountable so the billing and collections process is timely, accurate, and efficient.
  • Create accountability so that billing and collections goals are achieved.
  • Establish reports and a reporting process that provides metrics for labor efficiency, productivity, and accuracy. Monitor, prepare, and present productivity and accuracy reports.
  • Work closely with accounting to coordinate: Closing schedules and tasks; billing and collection related tasks for financial audits; system information and workflow; monthly production of billing and collection reports
  • Oversee workflows and schedules for staff ensuring all processes and deadlines are met efficiently and effectively.
  • Oversee and participate in insurance run offs and be able to identify and explain variances.
  • Lead in the design, implementation, monitoring. and improvement of billings and collections processes and procedures maximizing use of resources.

Department Management

  • Development of an employee-oriented company culture that emphasizes quality, continuous improvement, key employee retention and development, and high performance.
  • Manage the overall operational, budgetary, and financial responsibilities and activities of the department.
  • Plan, evaluate, and improve the efficiency of business processes and procedures to enhance speed, quality, efficiency, and output.
  • Make business decisions that are financially responsible, accountable, justifiable, and defensible in accordance with organization policies and procedures.
  • Review performance data that includes financial, sales, and activity reports and spreadsheets, to monitor and measure departmental productivity, goal achievement, and overall effectiveness.

Human Resources Management
  • Plan and allocate resources to effectively staff and accomplish the work to meet departmental productivity and quality goals. Work with Human Resources staff to recruit, interview, select, hire, and employ an appropriate number of employees.
  • Coach, mentor, train and develop staff, including overseeing new employee onboarding and providing career development planning and opportunities.
  • Empower employees to take responsibility for their jobs and goals. Delegate responsibility and expect accountability and regular feedback.
  • Foster a spirit of teamwork and unity among department members. Consciously create a workplace culture that is consistent with the overall organization's and that emphasizes
the identified mission, vision, guiding principles, and values of the organization.
  • Lead employees using a performance management and development process that provides an overall framework to encourage employee contribution and includes goal setting, feedback, and performance development planning. Identify training and career development needs and work with employees to achieve growth in these areas.
  • Lead employees to meet the organization's expectations for productivity, quality, and goal accomplishment.
  • Maintain transparent communication; appropriately communicate organizational information through department meetings, one-on-one meetings, and appropriate email, and regular interpersonal communication.
Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, the ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily is necessary and the qualifications listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required:
  • High School Diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Strong leadership skills will be necessary to succeed in this role.
  • Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and Third-Party billing requirements.
  • Managerial experience; minimum five years.
  • Excellent customer service, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Able to manage a large team and work efficiently and effectively throughout the organization; minimum two years.
  • Able to maintain organization, multi-task, problem-solve and prioritize.
  • Able to utilize Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, and Outlook.

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS PREFFERED

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience managing medical and managed care billing; minimum four years.
  • Knowledge of billing software applications.
