SUMMARY:
Assist in the design, coordinate, and manage evaluation studies to analyze key evaluation questions related to outcomes and effectiveness of Office of Smoking and Health (OSH) global projects, using data-driven messaging to inform populations across the Middle Eastern and Northern African (MENA) Region of the risk of COVID-19 severity with tobacco use.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Coordinate and track project evaluation activities, record status updates, share milestone updates, and work to resolve project evaluation timeline and resource deficiencies and risks.
- Participate in data collection.
- Participate in the analysis and write-up of research findings.
- Coordinate project evaluation activities with appropriate CDC staff as well as with project collaborators within the MENA region and any other project contractors/sub-contractors.
- Prepare agendas for evaluation project meetings, set up meetings, invite attendees, create virtual meeting links for remote attendees, coordinate all audio visual, and resolve coordination issues for attendees.
- Document evaluation project management meetings with written minutes, action steps, and lists of deliverables for each project activity and distribute to appropriate CDC staff and project collaborators, saving to a designated OSH share drive or SharePoint site.
- Provide written reports containing recommendations based on findings.
- Provide proofreading services to check for a logical flow of the information, grammatical errors, and misspelling, and recommend changes. Proofreading services shall also include reviewing documents against each other for consistency.
- Review drafts for accuracy and ensure information provided is correctly cited, sourced, and adheres to CDC style and branding guidelines, plain language requirements, and section 508 guidelines. Such work shall be done in accordance with CDC policies and procedures, and OSH standard operating procedures.
- Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
- Master’s degree in public health or a related field and a minimum of five (5) years evaluation experience in public health, social service, government, or a related field, or a bachelor’s degree and a minimum of eight (8) years evaluation experience strong interest or subject matter expertise in global tobacco control.
- Background in epidemiology, program evaluation, and quantitative or qualitative analysis.
- Proficiency translating scientific information into plain language and the ability to apply plain language principles.
- Expert knowledge of a wide range of qualitative and/or quantitative methods to review, monitor, and evaluate project activities.
- Knowledge of project evaluation tools and techniques to plan, schedule, implement, and evaluate project activities.
- Knowledge of oral communication techniques to make presentations, provide program consultation, and respond to inquiries.
- Knowledge of written communications to prepare responses for inquiries, reports, and proposals.
- General knowledge and familiarity with the health concerns, customs, culture, idiosyncrasies, and mannerisms of the countries involved cultural humility.
- Knowledge of various research designs and quantitative/qualitative methods and of CDC’s evaluation framework.
- Must obtain and maintain any necessary security access and/or background checks.

WORK SCHEDULE:
40 hours per week. May be required to work additional hours as needed to complete assignment or project.
