Overview:
As Senior Developer-Learning Technologies you will act as courseware developer, providing design and programming support for the development of asynchronous online learning courses and performance improvement tools. The position is responsible for creating engaging and high quality eLearning, animations, and videos that provide critical skills to TDS’s associates. This learning may be stand-alone or part of a broader, role-focused curriculum. It works on a variety of subjects.

The position works with Instructional Designers, business unit project sponsors and subject matter experts, IT technical staff, and outside vendors to help define project scope and deliverables, to determine project timeline, and to control and track project progress.

The pay range listed for this position represents the low and high end of the base compensation range. The actual offer amount will carefully consider multiple factors, such as relevant skills, qualifications, work experience, location and/or competencies that align with the specified role. Certain positions are eligible for additional forms of compensation such as bonuses and equity awards.

Responsibilities:
eLearning Design and Development
  • Designs and develops highly engaging, interactive learning assets using capturing, authoring and editing tools. Assets may include eLearning, videos, practice activities, assessments/quizzes, and job aids.
  • Designs custom graphics, illustrations, and animations that enhance knowledge transfer and retention.
  • Designs and creates reusable templates and graphical user interfaces. Follows industry standards for usability, SCORM/AICC compliance, and LMS compatibility.
Instructional Design
  • Works with stakeholders and subject matter experts to document learning objectives and content outlines.
  • Translates learning objectives and content outlines into technical storyboards, content flows, audio scripts and programming logic.
Project Management
  • Successfully manages the development of multiple eLearning projects.
  • Estimates design, development, and programming tasks for the purpose of project planning and prioritization of e-Learning training requests from the business units.
  • Effectively communicates with key project sponsors. Provides reports and status updates on project progress.
Consulting and Needs Assessment
  • Consults with business units and project sponsors to determine eLearning project deliverables.
  • Conducts needs assessment with key project sponsors and business units. Determines if training will meet key business need.
  • If training is required, determines the most effective training solution, both in terms of cost and of meeting key business objectives.
Continuous Improvement
  • Leads or plays a major role in contributing to the development of standard eLearning processes in the areas of programming, project management, and instructional design.
  • Recommends and implements new eLearning tools, development approaches, and curriculum designs based on continuous advancements in the learning marketplace and industry best practices.
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree (or higher) -OR- 4+ years professional work experience.
  • 3+ years’ experience in Design, Advertising, Video Production or Training.
  • 3+ years' experience designing eLearning courses, animations, motion graphics, multimedia, web pages or other technology-driven assets.
  • 3+ years' experience in project management.
Other Qualifications
  • Experience with the advanced features of capture, authoring and editing tools such as Articulate Storyline, Camtasia, and Adobe Creative Cloud applications.
  • Experience designing and developing learning assets for playback on a variety of devices.
  • Experience designing and developing eLearning that incorporates engagement and assessment features such as video, gamification, and branched scenarios.
  • Experience creating scripts and storyboards for stakeholders and acting on feedback.
  • Understanding of web usability standards, web design, and user interface design.
  • Understanding of basic programming logic.
  • Project management skills.
  • Presentation skills.
Benefits
Associates scheduled to work 20 or more hours per week have access to medical, dental, vision, life insurance, a 401(k) plan, and paid time off benefits such as vacation (15 days accrued per year for full-time; pro-rated for part-time associates working between 20-39 hours), sick leave (10 days accrued per year for full-time and pro-rated for all other associates), seven paid national holidays and one floating holiday, paid parental leave (2 weeks after 12 months of employment), among others. Short Term Disability and Long Term Disability coverage is also available for associates working 30 or more hours per week and Education Assistance is available to full-time associates. Associates scheduled to work under twenty hours per week or for a limited term (i.e. interns) are eligible for medical coverage, the 401(k) plan (if 18 or older), as well as sick leave (10 days accrued per year for full-time and pro-rated for all other associates).
