We are partnering with our client to assist with their search for a Senior Accountant. Our client is an independent, national nonprofit dedicated to transforming the lives of children and families struggling with mental health and learning disorders. They offer online or in-person, gold-standard, evidence-based care for those struggling with mental health and learning disorders. The Senior Accountant is responsible for day-to-day financial tasks, which include: recording revenues for medical practices, intercompany and payroll journal entries with allocations/reconciliation for three entities, monthly review of bank reconciliations and investment accounts, allocating grant expenses in the ledger, and providing general accounting support. The incumbent is also responsible for assisting with preparing interim and annual financial statements, as well as coordinating the organization’s annual audit. The incumbent should be a highly motivated self-starter who understands the nuances of non-profit accounting.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with planning and managing the monthly closing process
- Assist with preparation of trial balance and financial reports for month-end close, updated supporting schedules, and variance analysis
- Prepare intercompany related journal entries, analyze and reconcile across all entities
- Maintain schedule of intercompany balances and transactions
- Prepare semi-monthly payroll entries and benefit allocations for all entities
- Reconcile payroll ledger with payroll tax filings
- Assist FP&A team with personnel allocations
- Prepare monthly revenue entries for two medical practices and reconcile against the billing system
- Maintain and update net asset schedules, including additions to and releases from net assets with restrictions
- Review Staff Accountants’ monthly general ledger entries and schedules
- Ensure proper allocation of expenses
- Respond promptly to general ledger inquiries
- Serve as a point of contact with external auditors. Coordinate and/or prepare information and schedules for auditors
- Review accounts payable and other subsidiary ledger entries for posting to the general ledger
- Prepare schedules and documentation for tax preparation
- Utilize accounting principles to ensure compliance with regulatory and donor reporting requirements
- Prepare schedules and analysis for annual financial and uniform guidance audits
- Analyze current accounting procedures, recommend changes, develop, and implement improvements
- Ad-hoc projects upon request
- Keep up to date on changing regulations and best practices
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or similar discipline
- CPA license, advanced degree, and/or other certifications desirable
- 5+ years’ professional accounting experience
- Not-for-profit experience required
- Some experience in a healthcare setting desirable
- Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, ability to prioritize and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Strong analytical and technical skills required
- Willingness to work with and help develop junior level staff
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Working knowledge of Sage Intacct or a similar enterprise solution desirable
The anticipated salary range for this position is $88,000 to $105,000 annually. Salary is based on a range of factors that include relevant experience, knowledge, skills, other job-related qualifications, and geography.
