The Position
We are seeking a creative biochemist/assay development scientist to join our passionate team. The individual will be responsible for designing and developing novel biochemical assays across a number of technologies to discover and dissect interactions between RNA and small molecules. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to collaborate cross-functionally across Drug Discovery, RNA Platform, and Target Biology to transform novel ideas into execution. This role offers enormous growth potential to impact the build of Radial's proprietary discovery platform. Specific Responsibilities
- Independently design and develop creative biochemical screening assays
- Methodically and thoroughly troubleshoot and optimize assays as needed
- Collaborate with the RNA Platform team to turn ideas into executable assays
- Execute medium-throughput biochemical screens in-house
- Manage external collaborations/CROs
- Build expertise and experience in RNA biochemistry
- Learn in vitro RNA techniques including RNA synthesis, purification and manipulation
- Analyze, interpret, document, and present data to relevant scientific teams
Required Qualifications
- PhD in Biochemistry or related field plus minimum 1-2 years industry experience
- Hands-on experience with plate-based assay platforms including FI, FP, HTRF, and Alpha
- Demonstrated ability to develop creative and high-quality assays and the ability to methodically and nimbly troubleshoot through problems
- Experience with laboratory automation and semi-automated workflows a plus
- Experience with molecular biology and RNA biochemistry a plus
- Good working knowledge of the early discovery/screening processes
- Creative thinker and problem solver with demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, capable of conveying technical information in a clear and thorough manner
