Position Details:
- 8:00 am - 4:00 pm, Monday —Friday
- Full-time
- 12-month position (regular school calendar, paid time off)

The School Social Worker is responsible to ensure the premier therapeutic experience that meets and exceeds expectations both now and in the future through the implementation of each Student Experience Model (CEM) stage: (1) Pre-admission; (2) Admission; (3) Service Delivery; (4) Pre-discharge; and (5) Discharge. In the course of each student’s service delivery, the Residential Services Case Manager ensures implementation of the prescribed Individual Service Plan in pursuit of the Desired Outcome of Treatment in a manner that communicates and instills Hope for their future, Safety at all times, Trust unconditionally, and Opportunity always. The School Social Worker facilitates these outcomes through each stage of the students’ Life Experience Model by (1) Knowing their Story; (2) Promoting Strengths; (3) Teaching and Learning; (4) Encouragement; and, (5) Celebrating Success and engages each student in their life experience by providing opportunities for Living, Learning, Working, and Participating in the course of each students journey towards their Desired Outcome of Treatment.
Qualifications: The School Social Worker candidate must:
1. Possess a Master’s in Social Work and a New Jersey School Social Worker Certificate or Certificate of Eligibility
2. Possess a valid, regular (non-probationary) state driver’s license;
3. Possess a minimum of one (1) year experience working with students;
4. Have demonstrated leadership ability to integrate the vision of the organization
with all supportive services and personnel;
5. Have demonstrated leadership in maintaining high standards of professional behavior for self and staff;
6. Have excellent organizational, problem solving, creative and independent thinking skills;
7. Have demonstrated cultural competency and a commitment to diversity management.
Essential Duties: The School Social Worker:
Serves the emotional and social needs of students within Broadstep Academy. Participates as a member of IDT/Child Study Team with sending school district, for all appropriate aspects of referral, evaluation, classification, program implementation and monitoring student progress for students with disabilities children in accordance with N.J.A.C. 6A: 14.
Additional essential duties and responsibilities:
The School Social Worker must:
1. Conduct social assessments to evaluate adaptive social functioning and emotional development of students, families and social and cultural factors which influence students’ learning and behavior in an educational setting;
2. Develops behavioral plans that are meaningful to individual educational progress;
3. Collaborates with classroom staff on implementation of plans, monitors and reports outcomes to significant school staff;
4. Generates and documents outcome data to be presented in monthly meetings;
5. Performs case manager duties as liaison with school/student/parent/child study team and other agencies;
6. Participates in scheduled reviews of IEP’s, reports on social /emotional progress;
7. Participates in development and implementation of progress recommendations;
8. Ensures timely completion and compliance with all mandated activities and requirements in accordance with N.J.A.C. 6A: 14
