PURPOSE:

We are seeking a School Counselor to join our team in enriching the quality of life for youth. Enhancing their educational journey through DESE approved curriculum and utilizing the Teaching Family Model to gain needed life skills. The Hope Ranch of Missouri School counselor is to provide a comprehensive guidance program for students in grades K-8. The counselor provides activities to meet the needs of the students, consults with teachers, staff, and parents to enhance their effectiveness in helping students, and provides support to other elementary educational programs.

ACCOUNTABILITY:

The School Counselor is accountable to the Educational Program Director.

ESSENTIAL TASKS:

· Maintain the K-12 guidance curriculum.

· Guide and counsel groups and individual students through the development of educational and career plans.

· Provide small groups and individual students with therapy to address mental health needs

· Consult with teachers, staff and parents regarding meeting the developmental needs of students.

· Refer students with severe problems to appropriate community resources in consultation with their parents.

· Participate in, coordinate or conduct activities, which contribute to the effective operation of the school.

· Evaluate and revise the building guidance program.

· Pursue professional growth.

· Student assistance team or CARE team coordinator.

· School Testing Coordinator Responsibilities-Monitor/revise local assessment plan, order materials for testing, distribute testing materials, and organize testing schedules.

· Other duties as assigned

Qualifications: M.A. or M.S. with an emphasis in guidance and counseling

Evaluations: Each employee will be evaluated by his/her supervisor(s) on a regular basis according to evaluation procedures established by the Board of Directors. Evaluations will be based on general expectations for all employees, and the specific responsibilities of the position being evaluated. Employees who fail to meet expectations will be given assistance and opportunity to improve, and must make every effort to improve and meet all expectations. Failure to improve and meet expectations may result in termination.

Terms of Employment:

All employees are At-Will: Employment and salary for each school counselor will consist of 190 days and include student attendance days, professional development days and 20 additional days to be distributed before and after the regular school year student attendance days.
