POSITION SUMMARY:
The Sample Processing Technician plays a foundational role in Nestlé analytical food testing. This team member is responsible for successfully delivering customer analysis requests via detail orientation and highly developed data entry skills. Specifically, the role interprets and inputs both routine and complicated customer analytical service requests - using operating procedures, standard laboratory methods, computer workstation/software, and highly developed logical reasoning skills. This role is designed for a critical thinker who can comfortably operate with a high attention to detail while executing highly routine or highly repetitive tasks, and is one of the most essential parts of ensuring delivery of customer value within Nestlé Quality Assurance.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide support to laboratory department by receiving analysis requests, interpreting as needed, and entering data
- Receive, register, and prepare samples for general analytical testing through data entry.
- Function as primary data generator, record, and calculate data.
- Interpret customer requests and perform receiving and computer “log-in” functions.
Execute laboratory sample service requests and processing steps
- Weighs, blends samples for laboratory analysis.
- Accurately records results of sample processing, making sure to keep identification numbers matched with correct samples.
- Acid washes glassware and specially cleans other equipment and areas as required; supports in keeping area clean and orderly.
Processes/Methods
- Identify and resolve process and workflow problems.
- Assist in write-up, review, and provide proper documentation for processes or methods.
Training
- Attend internal and external training programs as assigned by management.
- On-the-job instruction under direct supervision of other technicians or scientists.
- Training other associates as experience and job needs dictate.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:
REQUIREMENTS AND MINIMUM EDUCATION LEVEL:
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Coursework in Chemistry or a closely related science discipline preferred.
- Ability to work occasional or regular overtime hours with limited or no notice.
- Ability to regularly work in lower temperature environment (i.e. ~50° F)
EXPERIENCE:
- Relevant academic coursework (i.e. Data entry, Microsoft Office, technical competency) or 1 year practical relevant experience in an analytical laboratory preferred.
- Experience in high frequency, high speed customer service preferred.
- Experience in high volume written business/customer communications (i.e. Email) preferred.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
- Moderate to advanced applied/demonstrated competency in Microsoft Office applications: Outlook, Word, Excel.
- Moderate to advanced written business communication skill.
- Teamwork: ability to successfully navigate and satisfy competing internal and external service requests.
- Ability to maintain professional demeanor in intense or extended service delivery periods
- Advanced English language skills: reading, writing, speaking.
