The Sales Audit Analyst is responsible for managing, owning and reporting all accruals, fees and sales for our growing portfolio of schools. Within this role, you will be responsible for the comprehensive analysis of transactions to identify problems, recommend solutions, and drive the implementation of improved practices and policies. This position plays a key role in ensuring our sales are being reported accurately. - Maintain and analyze numerous reports and excel spreadsheets, highlighting sales data, margin changes, sales tax reversals, etc.
- Aid in the accuracy of accounting data that flows from point of sale systems (POS) to the general ledger, while ensuring the quality of POS enhancements, table maintenance and setup
- Analyze and research line object, department and price changes; prepare reconciliations as applicable
- Manage invoicing for 100+ stores providing manual adjustments and evaluating textbook markup/markdowns
- Audit and analyze all accruals
- Investigate missing transactions of sales
- Prepare and analyze complex reconciliations of various processor payments and General Ledger accounts
- Prepare journal entries related to managing sales deposits, overages/shortages and change orders
- Process Weekly Freight File
- Provide insight on trends or unusual transaction activity that may impact financial close including monitoring program sales and completing bi-annual true-up
- Communicate with various internal and external partners to resolve sales reconciliation differences
- Provide ongoing and ad hoc analytical support to the Retail Leadership team
- Additional responsibilities as required
- 3-4 years of sales audit/inventory analysis experience required
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance preferred
- Expert proficiency in Microsoft Excel including building and applying advanced formulas such as VLOOKUPs, SUMPRODUCT, INDEX MATCH, pivot tables, etc.
- Experience with Aptos, Query Designer, PeopleSoft, AS400, Oracle Retail is preferred
- Strong analytical skills
- Advanced written and verbal communication skills with the ability to run effective meetings
- Detail oriented with exceptional organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and work on several tasks simultaneously
