Overview

The Safety Professional at Henkels & McCoy serves in a dual role; where the initial objective is to operate in a consultative capacity, by providing expert support, guidance, and motivation to operations management and employees at all levels. In addition, along with management, the Safety Professional at H&M is expected to be a “hands on” partner in delivering various safety initiatives and programs specifically to develop a safety culture supporting the goal and daily mission that “Nobody Gets Hurt” in the course of any work performed by H&M.

The successful candidate will assist in monitoring and coordinating company safety and health programs and resources in the assigned geographical area. This would include conducting safety inspections, incident investigation and analysis, safety training, safety reporting, and internal communications with regards to safety concerns, and upon request, company representation for OSHA Regulatory citations and appeals.

Job Elements

Advises personnel regarding safety protocols and procedures to ensure regulatory compliance.

Conducts routine and follow-up safety and hazard inspections of Power Transmission or Distribution or Substation construction/work sites.

Responds to emergency situations and conducts incident investigations.

Makes recommendations for correcting unsafe conditions and provides necessary safety training.

Conducts Job Hazard Analysis and Incident Investigations.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Safety - preferred.
  • Two or more years Safety experience in Power Utility construction - REQUIRED.
  • Two or more years experience with Electric Transmission, or AEP or Black Veatch - preferred
  • Advanced comprehensive Safety and Occupational Health knowledge of OSHA 1910.268 and 1926 regulations.
  • Ability to assess work place hazards, determine the risks and provide solutions in an efficient, timely and cost effective manner.
  • Ability to work independently (self-managed with the ability to set goals and objectives) and on teams (leadership and/or participation) with very little supervision.
  • OSHA 500 Certification preferred.
  • CPR Certification preferred.
  • Experience using Word, Excel and PowerPoint required.
