Safety & Security Manager – Mars Retail

Newark, NJ

The Safety & Security Manager works independently and collaboratively within Mars Retail Group (MRG) to establish and maintain appropriate safety, risk management, and loss prevention processes and systems to protect and preserve associates, guests, and company assets.

They will also gather data, identify areas needing improvement, implement solutions, and develop strategies to execute and create safety policies as needed.

This is accomplished with focus on the MRG physical store locations, future expansion, as well as the MRG support center, printshop, and warehouse locations.

What are we looking for?

• College degree (preferred) or equivalent experience required

• 2+ years’ experience with Loss Prevention and/or Safety/Risk Management processes and policy implementation

• Intermediate skills in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word

• Demonstrates reporting presentations with complex data

• Strong communication skills with the ability to present to different levels of business partners and stakeholders

• Required to travel to MRG locations (global travel + global responsibilities)

What would be your key responsibilities?

Operations:

• Assess and manage effective policy and procedure for loss prevention and safety throughout locations of responsibility

• Determine risk management policies and make recommendations to Mars Retail Group (MRG) leadership team

• Stay informed as to relevant statutory policies in dealing with the general public and associates

• Establish follow up mechanisms to measure effectiveness of loss prevention measures and physical operational supplies, merchandise, and cash

• Establish follow up mechanisms to measure effectiveness of safety and risk measures to ensure improvement in incident rates with team and guest

• Conduct on site visits/audits as needed

Reporting & Training:

• Interprets reported data to identify possible opportunity gaps or solutions

• Maintain the global Everbridge system to ensure timely updates for all MRG sites

• Collaborate to ensure relative training courses and programs are up to date and current at all sites

• Assist in creating best practices for loss prevention and safety in partnership with Learning

Relationships & Collaboration:

• Work with Commercial team to ensure proper staffing of security team while ensuring security budget is achieved

• Partner with MRG Inventory Manager to analyze and assess available data to identify and problem solve areas of risk and loss

• In partnership with Mars Corporate Security and Global HSE, conduct investigations and interviews related to safety incidents/theft/shrink/cash shortage (internal and external). Prepare appropriate documentation and provide recommendations to leadership team

• Establish rapport and build relationships with Store Ops team, P&O, Security, Commercial, Mars Corporate Security, Mars HSE team, and local law enforcement

• Formally support global investigations when needed on fraud and theft within MRG sites

• Formally support global health, safety, and environment teams when needed on incident investigations

Project Management:

• Project ideation, planning and execution to safety, risk management, and loss prevention processes

• Creates and lead project teams, as needed, relating to scope of work

• Control time management and cost estimates to keep projects on track

• Identifies risks and monitor progress through planned benchmarks

• Communicates at all stages to both stakeholders and end users the continued progress

• Captures and provides learnings and feedback from completed projects in the form of AAR’s

• Executes timely output of projects while managing multiple competing priorities
