Affinis RN Hospice Administrator
SUMMARY
Under the general direction of the Affinis Hospice Executive Leadership Team, the incumbent is responsible for the Hospice Program. This includes planning, organizing, coordinating, and evaluating all clinical and administrative operations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

- Directs the daily clinical and administrative activities of the Hospice Program.
- Provides leadership, direction, and supervision for the Hospice staff.
- Ensures that the policies and procedures for the provision of hospice care are developed with interdisciplinary group participation and are approved by IDG and Board of Directors.
- Ensure the implementation of policies and procedures related to the management, operation and evaluation of the overall performance of the hospice.
- Ensures compliance with Medicare Conditions of Participation and Georgia State Regulations.
- Develops hospice goals and objectives under the direction of the Executive Leadership Team in accordance with the mission of Affinis Hospice.
- Acts as a liaison between the Executive Leadership Team, Medical Staff, and Hospice Staff.
- Oversees hospice quality assessment performance improvement activities in conjunction with the Quality Assessment Performance Improvement Department.
- Conducts ongoing community hospice needs assessment, and participates in the development of new hospice-related programs and services.
- Assists in the negotiation and coordination of contractual agreements with pharmacies, medical equipment companies, and supplemental services.
- Plans and implements program development in the areas of bereavement and volunteer services. Makes recommendations to the Executive Leadership Team for program expansion.
- Establishes and maintains physician relationships, ensuring continuity of care across the Affinis Hospice referral network.
- Provides information to and serves as liaison between physicians, community agencies, social service departments, nursing homes, acute care facilities, and home care agencies.
- Prepares yearly Hospice budget for approval by the Executive Leadership Team. Assures financial success and viability by closely monitoring expenses and revenues.
- Oversees the recruitment, selection, promotion, and termination of Hospice personnel ensuring that sufficient qualified staff is hired to meet the needs of patients admitted for hospice care. Ensures that complete and accurate personnel records are maintained.
- Conducts annual performance appraisals on all Hospice administrative staff and reviews appraisals of all clinical staff.
- Assists staff in understanding corporate mission and department's goals and objectives.
- Oversees the employee orientation program to ensure that employees and volunteers are oriented trained and supervised; and ensures the completion of annual training and supervision programs.
- Maintains and promotes an open and supportive environment.
- Ensures/implements/promotes/supports quality assessment performance improvement activities, evaluations, and improved outcomes.
- Performs other duties as requested.
- Ensures that there are mechanisms in place for effective communication for staff, patients and families.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- This position requires extensive knowledge of hospice. Strong leadership qualities and experience in hospice program development and fiscal management required.
- Extensive knowledge of healthcare and long-term care organizations and their structure.
- Considerable ability to plan and direct subordinate staff in the execution of their activities and prioritize workload.
- Ability to effectively communicate and present information in a clear and concise manner, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, department heads, administrators, member organization presidents and their leadership teams, and the general public.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- A Baccalaureate degree in Nursing with active nursing license and five years experience in a health care setting or health related environment required. At least one year of supervisory or administrative experience in hospice and/or related community health program required; or
- A Masters degree in Social Work from an accredited school of social work (MSW) and five years experience in a health care setting or health related environment required. At least one year of supervisory or administrative experience in hospice and/or related community health program required.
- Ability to meet Hospice conditions of employment regarding health clearance, and provisions of professional references.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
- Ability to read and interpret document such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or associates of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
REASONING ABILITY
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram format. The ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
