The Director, Nursing Services directs all clinic functions, oversees all clinic staff and ensures appropriate staffing while ensuring high quality standards. With a new facility you'll be managing a staff of 4 supporting clinical services at our new Adult Day Health Center which operates Monday through Friday, 8a to 5p - no nights, weekends or on-call.

Participant Care – 60%

  • Responds to and performs triage of incoming telephone calls.
  • Assists in the treatment, examination, and testing of participants.
  • Develops, implements, and maintains a current nursing care plan.
  • Performs general nursing care to participants. Performs or supervises the administration of prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with nursing standards.
  • Educates participants, family and caregivers in regards to care, medications and treatments.
  • Coordinates participant care with outside contracted service providers which includes nursing homes, assisted living, laboratories, oxygen, etc.
  • Oversees scheduling participants for specialist appointments and assists in hospital admissions and calling report to unit.
  • Observes, records, and reports participant’s condition and reaction to drugs and treatments given by physicians.
  • Implements written orders given by the primary care physician.
  • Manages and reviews participant’s records, charts, pertinent information and staff’s documentation, updates documentation as needed.
  • Completes the nursing assessment form on visitors and participants at standard intervals.

Clinic Management & Supervision - 40%

  • Evaluates the overall effectiveness of the clinic, implementing change and quality improvement as needed.
  • Consistently achieves a 90% vaccination rate of participants with the Pneumovax vaccine.
  • Manages the flow of clinic; oversees appointment bookings, triaging and gate keeping in conjunction with primary care and staff. Ensures timely and appropriate care of participants.
  • Oversees staff, verifies that exam rooms are stocked for necessary supplies and materials and ensures cleanliness.
  • Monitors expenditures with commitment to good stewardship of the organization’s resources.
  • Communicates with weekend and after hour staff and follows up as appropriate.
  • Develops relationships with Primary Care, Day Center and Transportation departments to facilitate seamless healthcare for the participants.
  • Sets clear expectations and assigns appropriate authority to staff; holds staff accountable for their scope of work and compliance to company policies and procedures.
  • Effectively supervises and manages direct reports and provides, by example and leadership, motivation and direction to employees of the organization.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable state and federal employment laws.
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; recognizing and rewarding employees; corrective disciplinary procedures and practices (under direction of supervisor and in partnership with Human Resources), addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Ensures annual employee performance reviews are conducted in a timely and effective manner. Evaluates performance of employees for compliance with established policies and objectives of the organization and contributions in attaining objectives.
  • Helps set the tone of the department to ensure morale, team work, and that the positive employment culture of the organization is maintained.
  • Regularly schedules leadership/management, department, and staff 1:1 meetings to provide leadership, development, and a forum for communication to ensure coordination and collaboration in meeting organization and individual goals.



REQUIRED

  • Associates degree in nursing, healthcare or related field.
  • Current state issued RN License and current CPR certification or the ability to obtain CPR certification
  • 8+ years of health care experience with an emphasis in geriatrics
  • Strong management skills and 3+ years experience supervising staff.
  • A minimum of one year working with the frail or elderly
  • Must be computer proficient and possess experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.

PREFERRED

  • Bachelors or Master’s degree in nursing, healthcare or related field.
  • Certification as a Geriatrics Nurse
  • Bi-lingual
