Acclaimed Philadelphia restaurant group 13th Street Kitchens is looking to add a Restaurant Interior Designer to its management team. In addition to our already-existing eateries (Café Lift, La Chinesca, Kensington Quarters, Prohibition Taproom), we have several new locations in the works in Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey, and we are seeking a creative Designer with a keen eye for detail. The Designer will collaborate with ownership and upper management in making unique spaces memorable and vibrant by executing and refining our owner’s vision. While providing great service and inventive food is crucial to our mission, the Designer also plays a critical role in the overall guest experience. While previous restaurant design experience is not a requirement, it is a plus.

Job Functions:

• Perform, coordinate, and manage all restaurant interior design activities.
• Coordinate internal meetings with company leadership and contracted partners.
• Engaging and recruiting vendors during the design phase, potentially including architect, MEP engineer, kitchen equipment vendor, signage vendors, millwork fabricator, etc.
• Confirm specs for multiple owner-furnished items such as Furniture, Millwork, Artwork, Flooring, Signage, and Kitchen Equipment.
• Sourcing of materials, hardware, fixtures, etc. for use in projects.
• Review design documents and facilitate Landlord approvals as required.
• Attending construction progress meetings as needed, both to ensure our brand standards and project requirements are met.
• Partnering with the General Contractor to resolve on-site issues, provide sketches and responses as necessary to Contractor RFI’s.
• Maintain detailed files for all projects.
• Collaboration with internal partners to evaluate and enhance brand recognition and design standards.
• Identify opportunities for the use of new technology and materials.

The Qualifications:

• At least 3 years’ experience designing hospitality/retail/restaurant/commercial projects.
• Adept at collaboration. The Interior Designer will work directly with ownership in order to execute a mutual vision for upcoming projects.
• Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, and Adobe Creative Suite proficient. Rendering, 3D modeling, and hand sketching skills are a plus.
• Ability to manage several projects simultaneously, and work with multiple leaders across the organization.
• Strong communication and time management skills.
• Knowledge of retail/restaurant/hospitality design industry trends.
• Positive attitude that contributes to teamwork.
• A detail-oriented approach.

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to sit, squat and kneel occasionally
• Occasionally may have to lift objects weighing up to 50lbs.
• Must be able to work in a safe manner
