Position Overview:

Under the direct supervision of the Foster Care and Adoptions Program Manager, the Resource Family Social Worker is responsible for the placement of foster children.

Responsibilities

  • Receives telephone and email contact from County representatives to coordinate placements of foster children.
  • Maintains a current vacancy list of all available spaces in the Resource (foster) homes. Communicates with foster care staff regarding all Resource (foster) homes to ensure all data is accurate and up to date.
  • Completes an initial placement match assessment of the children to determine the appropriateness of the placement and the best fit with a Resource (foster) home
  • Coordinates the placement including who will be present and where the placement will take place. Provides transportation if needed.
  • Is responsible for ensuring all Intake paperwork is accurately completed.
  • Ensures that all placements, transfers and terminations are inputted into Foster Track timely (within 24 hours) and accurately.
  • Solicits potential placements through telephone contact, email, daily faxes and consistent office visits with County representatives that the Agency has a contract or a Memo of Understanding to place foster children in agency certified homes.
  • Tracks and documents intake statistics regarding accepted placements, rejected placements and the type of characteristics involved (i.e. age, ethnicity, geographic location, behavior issues, etc).

Essential Requirements

  • Must possess a Master’s degree from an accredited or state approved graduate school in the behavioral sciences, unless an exception is obtained by Community Care Licensing due to related experience.
  • Must have previous experience working in the child welfare system, with an understanding in the needs of foster children and assisting in matching them with an appropriate resource(foster) home.
  • Must possess a valid California driver’s license, Personal automobile insurance and driving record that meets the standards outlined in the Agency’s Personnel Policy; Motor Vehicle Operating Standards.
  • Must be physically and mentally fit to work with potentially violent, severely emotionally disturbed adolescents in accordance with the Agency’s Personnel Policy: Physical Fitness Standards and Examinations. Must be willing to complete a health screening physical examination that includes a drug screen and a back screen.
  • Must be willing to complete a personal background investigation conducted by the State of California and must meet California Community Care Licensing standards for employment.
