Part-Time and Per Diem positions available now for our IRT North Program- a great way to supplement your income, to ease back into the workforce, or a great way to ease into a career that will allow for growth and support in hours, training, and opportunity! Pay starts at $19.00/hour for a fully certified MHRT1 candidate. CRMA only (40-hour course) applicants start at $17.50/hour and are highly desirable! No certifications? Strong desire to help people? We will train you!!!

We will provide continued opportunities to grow and learn in a Mission-driven organization! VOA Northern New England will pay for training in this field, and employees receive an increase in pay for each training completed (up to full MHRT1 certification). We also provide an additional $1.50/hour in Weekend Shift Differential Pay (specific times apply).

Our Residential Counselors provide support in a home environment through role modeling, side-by-side assistance, through prompting, and through active engagement. Typical duties include medication oversight and administration, support with daily activities in the home such as cleaning/laundry, support to utilize skills and techniques to manage mental health symptoms and support with community and peer engagement.

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma required; college education in relevant discipline or experience working within the behavioral health field preferred. Proof of education will be required upon hire.
  • Knowledge of basic homemaking skills, understanding of community resources, implementation of individual training plans, and documentation of care preferred;
  • Ability to self-motivate and initiate work independently. Willingness to engage with clients;
  • Excellent communication skills, including active listening, written, oral, and record-keeping skills;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook;
  • Valid Maine driver’s license and reliable transportation required. The employee must have a good driving record and at least 3 years of driving experience to transport clients using their vehicle;
  • Solid relationship-building skills, with the ability to exhibit compassion and patience.
  • Per the state of Maine regulations, all behavioral health and IDD employees will be required to submit proof of immunization records upon employment for the following: MMR, Varicella, Hepatitis B, Flu, and COVID-19.
