Job Summary: The Research Associate assists the Research Coordinator, principal investigators and clinicians involved in research to accomplish goals of each project; collects and analyzes research data; consents subjects; provides input on the development of new research activities; assists in the coordination of studies and contributes to the submission of grant applications and stewardship. Essential duties and responsibilities, include but are not limited to the following:

  • Identifies and recruits subjects for study participation. Obtains informed consent and uses professional judgment to alert Principle Investigator in a timely manner that participant responses may indicate need for professional intervention.
  • Conducts interviews using a variety of structured and non-structured questionnaires and retrieves and records data from the medical record and documents data from interviews in appropriate format
  • Assists in development of data tables, graphs and charts and preparation of material for presentation
  • Conducts literature searches, copying and distributing articles as appropriate
  • Prepares research and grant associated documents by determining content, gathering and formatting information, writing drafts, and obtaining approvals. Gathers information via identifying sources, coordinates submissions and collections, and identifies and communicates risks associated with proposals
  • Writes, revises, and edits drafts including executive summaries, conclusions, and research submissions. Prepares presentations by evaluating text, graphics, and coordinating printing/presentation.
  • Performs various record-keeping tasks such as filing consent forms and other data collection forms on all eligible participants to ensure ease of data retrieval and tracking of participants. Assists in analysis of qualitative and quantitative data.
  • For all tasks, ensures federal, state and hospital compliance.
  • Communicates professionally and effectively with all stakeholders including principle investigators, staff, management, board members, and external relationships.
  • Supports the mission and values of Gaylord Hospital and the Milne Institute for Healthcare Innovation.
Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree required; Master’s degree of PhD preferred
  • Knowledge of biology, biochemistry, psychology, and other health and science disciplines preferred
  • 1-2 years of research experience required
  • Experience with grant writing and manuscripts preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite required
  • Experience with GraphPad Prism and citation management systems preferred
  • A good working knowledge of program evaluation methodology and statistical analysis and procedures is required.
  • Statistical analysis skills including the knowledge of multivariate analysis techniques such as multiple analysis of variance, multiple regression, logistic regression and principle component analysis is desired.
