Description


Develops and manages compliance tools and data required for Valero Renewable Fuels compliance with federal, state, and international low carbon fuel programs. Provides VRF with regulatory guidance on compliance issues. Job duties are variable, subject to the changing needs of the of VRF low carbon fuel programs.

  • Manages and supports the development, implementation, and utilization of key low carbon programs, such as: California Low Carbon Fuel Standard, Canadian CRF, and European low carbon programs.
  • Develops and manages low carbon fuels reporting, recordkeeping, and tracking to include: mass balances, forecasting tools for future sales, and reports on compliance with low carbon programs.
  • Archives data and maintain files as required by low carbon regulations.
  • Maintains tools for evaluating greenhouse gas life cycle analysis models and impacts from market conditions and GHG inputs.
  • Develops a market evaluation and production planning tool.
  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge of existing regulations and provides technical support for compliance impact to the business.
  • Provides written procedures and program documents necessary for regulatory compliance with low carbon fuel programs to meet the requirements in the Valero Low Carbon Assurance Program.
  • Interfaces with all impacted departments (Operations, Commercial, Tax, Fuels Compliance, Legal, Accounting, etc.) and gain alignment around issues and projects to obtain the best outcomes for the company.
  • Participates in training stakeholders on low carbon regulations and compliance responsibilities.
  • As organizational needs continue to evolve, additional duties may be added to this position.

This position is salaried exempt status, which means you are not eligible for overtime pay.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s or higher level degree in a related science required.
  • 5+ years of experience in the following area(s) required:
    • Low carbon fuels, process engineering, or planning & economics analysis.
  • Bachelor’s or higher level degree in Engineering preferred.
  • Familiarity with low carbon nomenclature, particularly that related to transportations fuels preferred.
  • Knowledge of California Low Carbon Fuel Standard regulations preferred.

Position level and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
