Recreation Specialist
Community Center

This position is partially or fully grant funded. Employment beyond the term of the grant award may be subject to approval by Executive Council.

About the Job:
Works with FCP Community Center participants in a variety of recreational programs within the FCP Community Center

Here’s what you’ll be doing:

• Ensures the health, safety and well-being of participants by providing close supervisor of assigned activities
• Works with a wide range of age groups to assist in, managing daily recreational activities including but not limited to arts, crafts, fabrication lab, aquatics, sports and fitness.
• Assesses the needs and interests of individuals and groups and plans activities accordingly, given the available equipment or facilities
• Serves as a positive role model to the participants, motivating and educating individuals to meet their goals
• Responds to emergency situations, following established emergency protocols
• Assists in program sports, games, special events, field trips and group activities
• Complies with FCPC policies and procedures, FCPC Recreation guidelines and enforces those guidelines with the membership.
• Maintains FCPC facilities and equipment
• May occasionally chaperone and transport youth for overnight events

Here’s what you’ll need to be successful:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Previous 1-3 years’ experience in physical fitness, community activities or aquatics preferred
• Must have a valid, clean driver’s license and be at least 18 years of age
• Must be able to work nights and weekends as activities/special programming dictate
• CPR/AED/First Aid certification or be willing to obtain within 3 months of hire
• Lifeguard certification preferred or willing to obtain within 3 months of hire
• Must successfully pass all applicable background checks and drug screens
