Position: Recovery Support Specialist / Technician

Department: Operations

Position Classification: Non-Exempt

Reports to: Director of Operations

Position Overview: The Recovery Support Technician (RST) reports to the Director of Operations and assists with the routine operations of Northstar Recovery Center.

Problem Solving: Identifies problems, involves others in seeking solutions, conducts appropriate analyses, searches for best solutions; responds quickly to new challenges.

Communication Proficiency: Comfortable using a broad range of communication styles, and ability to choose appropriate, effective ways to communicate to different audiences in diverse situations.

Flexibility: Is open to change and new information; adapts behavior and work methods in response to new information, changing conditions, or unexpected obstacles. Adjusts rapidly to new situations warranting attention and resolution.

Time Management: Uses his or her time effectively and efficiently; concentrates his or her efforts on the most important priorities; adeptly handles several tasks at once.

Specific Responsibilities:

● Monitor patients, provide security checks throughout the day, monitoring client’s activities and behavior.

● Ensures the patient areas are kept in a neat, clean, and orderly manner.

● Participate in direct client care including ensuring patient safety, interacting therapeutically, de-escalation of conflict.

● Assists with client attendance and the monitoring of clients on the program grounds, including accompanying clients for smoke breaks to designated smoking area.

● Ensures clients are following program rules and regulations. Reports infractions to the appropriate staff.

● Flexible to meet patient and staff needs.

● May be responsible for using a Company vehicle to transport patients from various locations to get them into treatment.

● Assists with urine collection and drug screening.

● Communicate with patients, emergency contacts, Northstar business partners, and possible referral sources.

Minimum Qualifications:

● High school diploma or equivalent

● Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize workload and meet deadlines.

● Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.

● Must have a valid state driver’s license.

● Must have strong knowledge of a variety of computer software applications in word processing, spreadsheets and presentations (MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).

● Some familiarity with behavior modification or 12-step modality

● Always demonstrates appropriate confidentiality when interacting with patients, families, visitors, referral sources and all other contacts.

● Exhibits excellent customer relation skills as evidenced by supportive and constructive communication with all contacts including coworkers, patients, residents, visitors, families and referral sources.

Work Environment: This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move objects up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision and the ability to adjust focus.

Travel: When applicable, travel is primarily local during the business day.

Job Type: Non-Exempt. Part-time, one or more evenings per week (PT: 5:45pm to 9:15pm. Some holiday shifts may be required with additional pay provided.

Compensation Range: $18.00 to $20.00 per hour
