Travel throughout LA County coordinating layoff and layoff aversion services provided by our partner agencies assisting businesses that are downsizing and their employees that are being laid off by promoting a comprehensive range of employment services at no cost, from training opportunities and placement assistance to candidate recruitment, at the America’s Job Centers of California, operated by JVS SoCal.
Job Description and Duties:
Will illicit responses from businesses to utilize our rapid response services for non-warn layoffs. Prepares tracking reports and submits documentation for monthly reports. Participates in job or information expos, refers participants to WorkSource Centers, provides access to CalJobs, provides information on resources for emergency assistance, delivers rapid response informational materials, provides TAA orientations, coordinates orientation meetings with employees, provides training orientation on industry specific opportunities, provides information about all services available via the One Stops, assess for layoff aversion potential and conducts planning meetings with the employer. Participates as part of the Rapid Response Team to provide layoff and layoff aversion services to businesses having difficulty retaining staff due to economic conditions. Must be able to analyze business climate of industry sectors and utilize current business data to conduct research, make cold calls and business outreach calls.
Must work as part of a team responsible for our centers Performance Excellence.
May facilitate job readiness workshops and will track client data in internal and state databases through data entry, comprehensive case notes and reports. Must meet program goals as established annually.
Qualifications and Position Requirements:
Proven track record in business-to-business sales in a performance driven occupation. Requires excellent communication skills both verbal and written. Requires the ability to understand labor market information and employer requirements. Must be very comfortable and have the ability to cold call, network and open new business. Public speaking and presentations are mandated. Must be highly organized, detail orientated and work within time restraints and deadlines. Work flexible hours, early morning, evenings and weekends may be required.
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions
Will work in an office environment and travel to clients’ employer work sites throughout LA County. Extension driving required. May be required to work some evenings and an occasional weekend day. Must be able to operate standard office equipment.
Education/Certification/Licensure
Bachelor’s Degree preferred in business, marketing or related field. 3 – 5 years of experience including career guidance, case management, outreaching, and/or sales/business development experience.
Preferred:
Bilingual in Spanish.
