Shift: 1st Shift

Job Description:

This position is responsible for assisting the Quality Assurance Lab Manager and Lab Supervisor to complete any necessary activities to test fuzzy, process, and carryover cottonseed for quality standards. This position is responsible for sampling and testing cotton seeds during two separate seasons of the crop year. Our first season consists of planting and germinating all returned processed seeds at our distribution center during our summer months. Key emphasis will be placed on proper planting and labeling of all germs and reading appropriately. The QA Technician will be expected to follow guidance from Client leads on how to properly handle seed lots and how to inspect the seed lots for visual quality issues. Our second season consists of planting, reading germs, and testing all finished cotton seeds in a lab setting. Key emphasis will be placed on performing tests in the lab which may include but is not limited to Genetic Purity, Visual Mechanical Damage, Adventitious Presence, Seed Count, pH, Seed Appearance, and Warm and Cool Germinations. Background in biology, lab experience, or agriculture experience preferred.
