The Quality Assurance & Training Lead plays an integral role within our organization, making it possible for us to grow our business with a focus on the highest measures of quality and consistency. The right candidate will exhibit characteristics of a self-starter and a passion for continuous improvement. Learning from our founder and key staff members, the Quality Assurance & Training Lead will absorb all the key elements of our processes and turn these elements into strong quality protocols and development programs.

The role is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing the quality programs, procedures and systems that ensure the quality and food safety of our products and ensure we meet all appropriate regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate is passionate about food, sustainability and has a strong background in food safety, compliance, and project management. This position will be in-person at our facility in Red Hook, Brooklyn.

Job Description:

• Leads assessments and training of manufacturing systems to ensure records, procedures, processing, packaging, and equipment follow established quality guidelines and protocols
• Provides leadership and technical assistance to operations by managing food safety, compliance systems, and regulatory awareness
• Assists in the development of new quality/regulatory systems and personnel
• A liaison between facility and senior leadership teams for food safety and compliance matters
• Responsible for monitoring and maintaining the plants quality systems to ensure compliance to regulatory, federal, and local laws
• Manage consumer complaints for all Sites. Manages compiling, analyzing and trending data Communicates with involved in site and drives investigation, root cause and corrective action plan
• Develop & deploy quality and compliance-based training for the entire site

Job Specific Requirements – Technical:

• Evaluates full sensory quality of product (visual, flavor, texture, and odor of items)
• Identifies differences from expectations/standards
• Monitors physical values on equipment and confirms appropriate conditions for operation during use.
• Inspects and evaluates packaging
• Immediately reports out-of-spec materials and operating conditions to appropriate team members
• Run Internal Audits for all quality practices and team operations
• Establishes all training polices and programs and institutes a quality orientation throughout the team

Preferred Qualifications:

• At least two years of similar experience, preferably in a food manufacturing environment
• Fundamental understanding of food quality, sanitation protocols, and food safety principles
• Communicates – Exceptional communication skills and the ability to work with management and hourly associates
• Self-motivated – Able to work independently with limited supervision. Proactive and takes action without being prompted
• Leadership – leads team(s) and motivates production associates to strive for highest possible quality
• Team approach –ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams including quality, operations, and corporate

Salary:

$65,000 - $75,000 based on experience
