Summary of Responsibilities
Develop and maintain quality, inspection, testing and record keeping programs consistent with national and international standards, regulatory and licensing programs.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Participate in the establishment of quality specifications and standards for purchased flow control products, actuation products, accessories and raw materials.
- Confer with management, customers and other representatives in planning, scheduling, coordinating and directing quality programs in conformance with customer requirements and specifications.
- Develop and recommend inspection and sampling techniques, quality control plans or process control procedures that will ensure the production of finished products which meet quality specifications and standards.
- Conduct research and investigation on product defects and failures and recommend modifications in products, processes, or quality standards where such appear to be warranted.
- Install and supervise inspection and testing procedures for incoming materials, processes and finished product.
- Visit customers and suppliers, when necessary, to confer on specific quality problems. Liaison with customers on items of product quality and reliability.
- Develop and conduct vendor audits and surveys as required.
- Review complaints received from customers, both internal and external, for the purpose of determining where emphasis should be placed, at the warehouses and branch operations, to prevent recurrence.
- Provide technical assistance to the Purchasing Department in connection with purchase of PVF materials, components, subassemblies, etc., that will make the final product. Develop and implement methods of qualifying and monitoring vendors.
- Interface with regulatory agencies, national and international standards bodies and licensing agencies to maintain up-to-date programs and ensure compliance.
- Provide technical guidance and work in close liaison with marketing and sales on all group projects.
- Analyze and interpret quality data and publish results.
- Establish and maintain an effective corrective action program.
- Assist with a training program to continually reinforce and upgrade personnel qualifications related to Quality Management Program.
- Serve on quality improvement committees and task forces, as required, to enhance and improve the quality of products and services.
- Must follow all Safety Rules and Company Policies.
- Responsible for total commitment to the Quality Improvement Process and providing assistance to other individuals and departments as needed.
- Understand and comply with all Safety and Environmental requirements.
- Perform various other duties as required by management, within the physical constraints of the job.
- Know and understand Floworks Quality Management System requirements, Operating and Technical Procedures and workplace instructions.
Required Skills:
- Minimum of 5 years in quality management and supervision or related education, training, management and supervisory experience.
- Basic understanding of quality programs and statistical quality control techniques.
- Understanding of the quality audit process and related techniques. Preferably certified by a national or international quality auditor certifying authority.
- Working knowledge of API quality and product standards and specifications, ISO 9000 series of quality system standards and the implementation, qualification and maintenance of these programs.
- Working knowledge of personal computers as related to management software uses.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
