We provide opportunities to work across our national network. dnata catering U.S. is looking for a Purchasing Manager to join our Houston, TX team supporting the George Bush Intercontinental Airport. Key Responsibilities: Sourcing and streamlining all National food (all commodities) & negotiating product cost with manufacturers/vendors to obtain the lowest possible prices.

You Will:

  • Sourcing and streamlining all National food (all commodities) & negotiating product cost with manufacturers/vendors to obtain the lowest possible prices.
  • Monitor & work with relevant teams to ensure the budgeted food costs are met and days on hand remain at targeted level.
  • Direct and coordinate purchasing functions for assigned unit.
  • Ensure customer quality standards and requirements are consistently met.
  • Ensure proper inventory levels of dry goods, meats, fish, poultry, fruits, and vegetables are on hand.
  • Coordinate with receiving and QA to ensure that product delivery schedules remain fresh to minimize spoilage and meet all HACCP/GMP policies.
  • Coordinate a just-in-time delivery process for certain high volume and perishable products.
  • Recommend solutions to existing processes to reduce waste and increase quantity.
  • Implement purchasing procedures to ensure effective product cost control.
  • Evaluate and select vendors that meet quality, price and delivery specification.
  • Analyze and interpret numerical data and perform basic financial analysis.
  • Monitor and report cost of goods purchased monthly to ensure budgetary control.
  • Report item cost of goods purchased compared to projected cost for menu items.
  • Facilitate uniform quality standards in food safety.
  • Ensure sanitation requirements are maintained in all areas of facility via periodic audits.
  • Conduct periodic inventory of purchased product in storerooms.
  • Manage purchasing, receiving and storeroom functions.
  • Participates in continuous improvement efforts.
  • Other duties as needed.

You Have:

  • Minimum 5 years of related purchasing & sourcing experience
  • Proven managerial experience is a must.
  • Solid understanding of supply chain and inventory management systems.
  • Advanced knowledge of forecasting and budgeting processes.
  • Outstanding communication and leadership skills.
  • Analytical mind with excellent problem-solving abilities.
  • Possess excellent analytical, quantitative, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Prior experience with ERP implementations a plus
  • Understanding of airline specifications & breakdown of menus a plus
  • Knowledge of FDA, USDA & HACCP requirements
  • Knowledge of spreadsheets, menu costing, and operations

Intellectual/Social demands:

While performing the essential functions of this job, the employee is continuously asked to multi-task under time limits. Position requires constant attention to precise details and accuracy of specified standards including following simple to complex (more than 3 steps) instructions, and concentration which frequently extends beyond 30 minutes at a time. This position also requires constant attendance and punctuality - Is consistently at work and on time. Follows instructions, responds to management direction; Takes responsibility for own actions; Completes tasks on time or notifies appropriate person with an alternate plan. Meets productivity standards; Completes work in timely manner; Strives to increase productivity; Works quickly.

Physical demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 30 pounds. Safety and Security - Observes safety and security procedures; Reports potentially unsafe conditions; Use equipment and materials properly.

Work environment:

The essential functions of this position are performed indoors. The noise level in the work environment can range from minimal to loud.

The salary range for this position is $70,000.00 - $90,000.00 with weekly pay, which represents base pay only and does not include short-term or long-term incentive compensation. When determining base pay, as part of a final compensation package, we consider several factors such as location, experience, qualifications, and training.
