Who we are
The State of Oregon Law Library is hiring a Publications Program Specialist for the Appellate Court Services Division (ACSD), located within the
Office of the State Court Administrator
(OSCA) at the Oregon Judicial Department (OJD). ACSD operates the State of Oregon Law Library and the public clerk’s office and provides administrative and clerical support to the Oregon Supreme Court and Court of Appeals. ACSD also provides services to OJD, executive branch agencies, and the public.
The Law Library serves Oregon’s courts, state government, attorneys, and the public, functioning as the official law library and legal publications repository for Oregon’s legal research. As the official reporter, the publications program at the Law Library prepares and publishes court opinions and decisions for the Appellate Courts and Tax Court and provides related subscription services.

We pay 95% to 99% of medical insurance premiums for full-time employees, including mental health coverage.

Position Highlights
In this role, you will produce or review, publish, and oversee the distribution processes of softcover Advance Sheets, hardcover, bound volumes, and electronic versions of the opinions issued by the Oregon Appellate Courts and both the Regular and Magistrate Divisions of the Oregon Tax Court.
You will format, paginate, proofread, and web-publish. Your goal will be to ensure that the style meets the standard requirements and guidelines issued by the courts. In doing your work, you will collaborate with judicial assistants to edit opinions and create no opinion documents. This means cover, flyleaf, table of contents, table of judges/justices, opinion summaries, table of cases, table of petitions for review, table of miscellaneous dispositions, table of cases where review has been allowed, table of cases affirmed without opinion, rule amendments, and memorials.
You will also have administrative work. This will include tracking publication costs, recording and processing invoices for payment, and troubleshooting production issues. You will be involved in projects to transition from traditional print media to electronic format. Additionally, you will be responsible for creating and maintaining databases associated with printing order placement.
Lastly, you will be the subject matter expert regarding court publications as you answer questions from co-workers and the public. Assigned tasks may be changed to accommodate workload and organizational needs.

Minimum Qualifications

Working Conditions

This is a full-time position, and the work schedule is typically 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. It is eligible for overtime compensation for hours worked in excess of a 40-hour work week.

Hybrid work may be available for this position; on-site availability is required as needed. All hybrid work assignments begin, end, or change only with the approval of the administrative authority.

Occasional local and overnight travel may be required for training and meetings.

Occasional telephone, video, and in-person contact with angry, hostile, confused, or frustrated people and with people from diverse backgrounds.

Long periods of sitting or standing while accessing various computer programs and applications.
