TITLE: Public Works / Utility Worker
REPORTS TO: Director of Public Works
JOB SUMMARY: The Public Works / Utility Worker performs a variety of work from manual labor to operation of light to moderate heavy equipment in the maintenance and repair of Village facilities such as water system, sewer system, storm water, streets, building, and ground maintenance.
SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
(including but not limited to:)
- Assists with the installation and repair of water, sewer, and storm sewer lines. Will also assist at times the operators of the water and sewer treatment plants.
- Street maintenance, such as installing road signs, pothole patching, painting of traffic markings, and plowing snow.
- Occasionally operate dump truck, small equipment, and snow removal equipment.
- Perform minor maintenance on vehicles and equipment.
- Perform Village building and grounds maintenance as needed.
- Must be able to safely run hand and power tools.
- Must be able to work in all types of weather conditions.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND REQUIREMENTS:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Must possess or able to obtain Water and Wastewater Operator licenses.
- CDL with endorsements (required within 90 days of employment).
- Aptitude for work in the electric, water, and sewer departments.
- Proficient in heavy equipment operation preferred.
- Mechanical ability.
- Ability to effectively communicate with residents, vendors and coworkers.
- Availability for rotating weekly on-call duty.
- Ability to respond to on-call emergencies within 30 minutes.
