ROLE SUMMARY

The Public Health Administrator III is an integral member of the CDPH Healthcare Settings Program, which focuses on prevention and outbreak response of healthcare-associated infections (HAI) and provides onsite investigations and technical assistance to healthcare facilities in Chicago to mitigate gaps in infection control. This position will work closely with the healthcare settings’ epidemiologists assisting with data collection, intelligence-gathering tasks, and developing protocols for data management and quality assurance related to healthcare-associated infections, multidrug resistant organisms, and antibiotic stewardship. This position will lead technical and administrative assistance, including onsite technical assistance and training for healthcare facilities. This position will be a member of the leadership team and responsible for supervising and delegating tasks to direct reports based on program priorities.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develops and implements program plans, objectives, standards, and procedures for use by staff in standardizing internal processes and providing services to healthcare facilities

  • Supervises and oversees staff in data management, administration of programs and the delivery of services to healthcare facilities

  • Oversees the maintenance of program records and the preparation of narrative and statistical reports on program activities

  • Implements procedural changes to modify and improve the quality of data and scope of services

  • Trains or directs the training of staff and/or delegate agencies on program administration procedures

  • Evaluates data management processes and internal protocols to ensure effectiveness in meeting established goals and quality standards

  • Provides technical assistance to healthcare facilities found to be in non-compliance with reporting and monitors progress in correcting identified deficiencies

  • Establishes partnerships with healthcare facilities to facilitate resource sharing

Days: Monday to Friday

Hours: 8:30 am to 4:30 pm.

Qualifications


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education, Training and Experience

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Health Administration, or a directly related field, plus three years of experience in the administration of public health programs; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience


SELECTION REQUIREMENTS

This position requires applicants to complete an interview which will include a skills assessment as part of the interview. The interviewed candidate(s) possessing the qualifications best suited to fulfill the responsibilities of the position, based on the oral and written parts of the interview will be selected.


OTHER KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ATTRIBUTES, AND ABILITIES

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel, Word, and PowerPoint

  • Supervisory experience or experience leading projects, delegating tasks and training staff

  • Applicable knowledge of public health or experience working at a public health department

  • Understanding of disease theory and infectious disease transmission

This position is funded by a federal grant. These funds may be extended, but CDPH cannot guarantee this position will be funded past July 2024.
